I switched from AVG to Avast. It tends to detect more, in my experience.
Plus the one thing I love about Avast is boot-time scans, so if you are infected it has a better chance of detecting and removing an issue. But yeah, Microsoft Security Essentials is another good free program. -- Procrastinater - So Good ~*Board 8 Late Night Crew*~ ... Copied to Clipboard!

I use Avast, but I also use the internet in such a manner that doesn't get me many if any viruses

the only time i have ever had to reinstall windows due to a virus was when i had avast installed. granted, i wasn't using spybot resident then, which may have had more to do with it. so that might be a better recommendation than AVG, hard to say.

I switched from AVG to Avast after AVG let a trojan slip by. Haven't had any problems since then!
Of course I do use Malwarebytes for the really nasty stuff. -- Falcon Punch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFtw7qW7Vcw ... Copied to Clipboard!

Well yeah, I have Malwarebytes installed and do a scan about once a month with it.
Avast is good real-time protection, but if **** gets serious make sure you have Malwarebytes. -- Procrastinater - So Good ~*Board 8 Late Night Crew*~ ... Copied to Clipboard!

Avast is pretty good. I switched to Eset because there was some sale where I could get it pretty much for free, but I never had any real issues with Avast.

nod32 and kaspersky are better than avast, but both are paid for any usage (or you just go 'wait i have internet').
for the free ones though, easily the best. -- The King Wang. Listen up Urinal Cake. I already have something that tells me if I'm too drunk when I pee on it: My friends. - Colbert. ... Copied to Clipboard!
