so I'm at the end of Ventus route. Second fight against Vanitas. I can beat him fairly consistently, but then I go to some kind of "Finish him!" special thing and I lose every time. I feel like Cloud losing against Sephiroth when all I have to do is press Omnislash.
I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing there. I spin the nub fast enough to overpower him and I press the right buttons when they pop on the screen, but he just stays at 1HP until eventually he kills me?

Yeah I had the same problem tbh but it's been so long I can't remember what I did. Try not to get hit during the flying part (I think he can make you lose HP there?) and then go all out on the clashes to build up your gauge. Eventually it'll click for you.
well I had it down so I'd beat him about 1 in 3 attempts, but then lost my first 8 "Finish him!" duels. Eventually I looked up in a guide what the different attacks do and when I'm supposed to use them.

Yeah that final sequence against Vanitas is a load of crap. I think I died like 20 times before I even realized what was going on, and it's not like the main battle is a cakewalk either. And you can't even use the Aqua D-Link to get an extra life like normal, because you D-Link Vanitas during the sequence.
It looks really epic though and it's cool when you understand what you're supposed to do, which is to match each of his attacks with your own.

oh welp I missed xehanort's report #1 in Ven's mode. If I load my game and go get it does that automatically unlock the final episode, or am I gonna have to fight the last bosses in Ven's mode again to trigger it?

You can just get the report and save. That should suffice.
well I do have all 12 reports (and the letter) and all 3 stories Complete in the trinity archives now, but unless I'm missing something there's no way to start a new game anywhere for the final episode. In the meantime doing Arena things with Ven for the first time.

Did you complete the journal in Aqua's Normal file? That's the only way you can unlock the final episode, unless you want to just start a new file with her on Proud (which is what I would do).
yeah so um turns out I have to move out of state on wednesday. Not gonna have time to go through Aqua's mode again and it's my current roommate's PSP so I guess I'm done

I did go beat Ven's route again after doing some link arena, leveling Mega Flare x3 for fun, and then Fire Surge x6 in my deck to ABSOLUTELY SLAUGHTER Vanitas. I didn't even have to heal! lmfao
um only way I could be missing a report is if it's after the last one I have, since I have 1-12

You're doing something wrong. The things you may have messed up are:
1: You didn't pay attention when it told you to make a save file for the Last Episode.
2: You don't have 3 completed save files
3: You're not noticing that you're missing a report. I think report number 5 gave me a lot of trouble, as it's found in the Arena and only as one of the characters. Terra, I believe.

seriously? I thought you just needed all 12 to show up in the Trinity Archives report viewer</p> That's what he means, I think. IIRC it's literally impossible for any one character to get all the reports.
