But I have them all right now and I'm considering going through them ALL in a single session. What would be the best order to watch them in? I know they're not really "connected" in the way movie sequels are... but I'm wondering if they threw in some Easter eggs that I should watch out for.

I figured this made the most sense.

So it'll be Iron Man/2, Thor and then Captain America right?

So...

I thought Thor was okay but it's definitely in last place for me (haven't seen Iron Man 2 though). It just took a few too many plot jumps in my opinion and I couldn't get over them. Objectively it was probably a better movie than the Hulk movie but my favorite Marvel character is the Hulk so I'm a little biased.

What the hell guys, Thor was ****ing incredible. And I'm not just talking to the people in this topic. I mean in general people really only talk about the Iron Man being awesome and the rest of the films just being decent superhero movies, but goddamn was Thor great. The first half hour with the fight on Jotunheim was amazing. All the CG just looked so good.. basically convinced me to buy a 3D TV.

I honestly think it was both funnier and had better action sequences than either Iron Man. Hemsworth is a ****ing stud. I loved pretty much everything there was in that movie. Seriously top-notch and I wasn't expecting to enjoy any of the four to that degree. I can't see how Captain America could top that, but I'm pretty excited either way.

Oh, and I'm definitely going to fail the cheesecake challenge. I was on a good pace having 3/8 pieces eaten 15 minutes into Iron Man 2, but I still haven't eaten another since then. I'm taking a very short break for dinner #2 right now, and I'll have at least another piece.. but I doubt I can down the rest tonight.

I honestly though Kat Denning's role in this movie was the worst supporting character I have ever encountered in any movie. She pretty much ruins it for me, I've never hated a minor actor more than her in Thor. She takes a solid 2 points of the entire movie's rating for me with her presence alone, and it's the only time in my entire life that I have actively voiced my disgust about a character in a movie in the theater during the film.

Yeah the effects were good but it was overall way too campy and melodramatic.

I liked Thor's character but everyone else was shallow as hell and Loki had like no motivation.

Thor Spoilers to follow I guess

I loved pretty much everything there was in that movie.

Even the forced, awkward romance? I really could've done without that myself. I truly enjoyed the first third of Thor but the whole thing started going downhill once he was banished to Earth imo. The literal God on Earth humor was funny at first, but then they kept replicating the formula over and over again until it was no longer fresh. The Destroyer or whatever it was called was actually pretty cool, and I liked the fight scenes involving it. Loki's fight scenes however, weren't handled nearly as well and as such the final confrontation- which should really be the most exciting battle- kind of fell flat for me.

That's all the issues I had with Thor.

Alright, food eaten. I can't reply to everything since I don't want to take over 30 minutes between movies... but I'll address a little.

I can see how Kat Dennings could annoy some people since she was just "comic relief" and I can see how people would get annoyed if they don't find her one-liners funny, but she wasn't even half as bad as the Hammer dude in Iron Man 2, **** that guy. He made every scene terrible.

The romance wasn't bad either, I'd call it understated if anything. I mean there was a tender moment as they fell asleep under the stars, Portman crying over Thor's dead body, and then the kiss when he went back to Asgard. I mean that was basically it. I can recall like one lingering shot while she first drove him the car to retrieve Mjolnir, but it was literally about a 2 second gaze. Didn't bother me in the least.

Final battle was weak, but the other battles made up for it. And Hemsworth's voice makes up for any qualms you have with the writing. I could listen to that man talk all day.

Now if you'd excuse me, it's time for the Captain.

*Thor spoilers*

Thor's a pretty enjoyable movie, but it suffers from a few things IMO.

1. Too much time spent on SHIELD. For some reason they are like, the bad guys, and in the context of the movie that never really gets resolved.

2. The development of Thor. The movie starts off with him being a brute that loves war and wants to kill all the frost giants with his bare hands. So Odin takes away his hammer and makes him mortal because he's unworthy. Then later he sacrifices himself and is suddenly worthy and the hammer returns to him, and afterwards he's all wise and stuff, and he's left his genocidal behaviour behind.

The problem is..... they don't really display any growth from losing the hammer to getting it back. Just him walking around smiling all the time. The scene where he tries to pick up his hammer and he fails was admittedly a very good scene towards this characterization, but that certainly didn't carry him from genocidal brute to wise ruler, and nothing else in the movie really fills in the gaps.

3. Loki was interesting, and he certainly was a conflicted character, but it seemed awkward at times telling what the hell he even wanted.

4. The Destroyer fight scene towards the end of the movie was a little weak. The Destroyer itself was awesome, but those Asgardians fighting him were.... pathetic.

Still, I did enjoy the movie a lot . The opening fight with the frost giants was awesome, and I did enjoy Hemsworth as Thor. I'd definitely put it at the bottom of my ranking for the films though.

I would highly recommend watching The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton. It's a very good movie and Norton is great in it. Ruffalo is great as Banner in the Avengers too, but Norton's performance is definitely worth seeing. I don't feel like seeing someone else as Banner took anything away from the Avengers either, if that's what your worried about. It doesn't really matter for backstory or anything though, so if you want you can wait till after the Avengers to see it if you really want to see the Avengers soon.

RANKINGS:

The Avengers

Iron Man
Captain America
The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man 2
Thor

BONUS RANKING: Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk

Cly your complaints about Thor are the weirdest set of complaints I've seen anyone cite about it.

SHIELD, Loki, and The Destroyer were pretty much pitch perfect. I'll concur that Thor's development was rushed, but at the same time, it was fairly clearly delineated; further, he's still very violent at the film's end, it's just that he is not nearly as needlessly violent.

The real issues Thor has are all in the middle section of the film, which centers largely on that awkward half-hearted romance.

Think of it this way - for the amount of time she had on screen, what did she really add to the film, outside of being a plot device?

You can't honestly say that the "resistance" that the Asgardians put up was anything good. They spent the whole time running around just barely avoiding getting hit and doing absolutely nothing to it. They didn't have to beat it or anything, but they are supposedly the best warriors in Asgard and they looked pathetic. Thor roflstomped it in about 3 seconds.

The Destroyer itself was awesome, but the arena he was thrust into.... did not live up to him.

SHIELD is actually part of the problem with the middle section of the film. Sheep just tried to say that the romance was understated, but that's actually the problem. It didn't really have much screen time, so their affection for eachother didn't actually make sense. The reason for this was because they made SHIELD some temporary bad guy for half the movie and took all the screen time that shoulda went to Thor + Natalie Portman, perhaps actually having some kind of local struggle for him to actually learn something from. This would have helped both the romance and his characterization he supposedly went through from losing the hammer to getting it back.
