These sound effects are hilarious. The installer made this DUUUUM sound when I clicked 'I Agree' and all I could think was 'this is definitely a decade old'.
I *think* I downloaded the patch from battle.net even though it won't let me actually log into battle.net and says my account doesn't exist. Was going to play single player anyway.
Leaning towards Assassin or Paladin. Probably Assassin.
From: TheKoolAidShoto | #003 KP, you know that the sequel to that game, Diablo 3, just came out, right? You can play that without playing D2
Not with a terrible computer you can't.
I kinda want to play D2 now that D3 is out, myself. It's one of those games I feel like I should play at some point, but it doesn't seem to ever drop in price. Would probably buy it if it hit good old games.
So someone explain this skill tree thing to me. I got a skill but I can't advance to the next skill in the tree yet for some reason? Also what skills are best for Assassin.

You unlock them at certain levels. 1 6 12, 18 24 and 30 iirc
And it depends on what you want to build and if you're just gonna play normal and try to go through Hell
I never played an assassin myself but most high level assassins on bnet were trap build.
You can get through normal fairly easily with a kick assassin though.
The best build if you're new to the game however is a summon necro.
Also in single player if you type /players8 in the chat box it raises the enemy level to mimic that of an 8 player game and you'll level up much faster
If you're just going though normal, most things work and you'll probably end up with ~40 skill points to play with. I'd rec going with Tiger Strike, Dragon Tail, Claw Mastery, few points into Burst of Speed, Weapon Block if you want to dual wield, 1 point into Dragon Flight for movement
I've only played through D2 once, as a Martial Arts focused Assassin, and if nothing else, I'd advise you to avoid doing that. >_> Act III was hell, even on normal.
Best skill build is probably: Traps 1 Fire Blast 1 Shock Web 20 Lightning Sentry 19 Charged Bolt Sentry 20 Death Sentry Shadow 1 Claw Mastery 1 Burst of Speed 1 Fade 1 Cloak of Shadows 1 Psychic Hammer 1 Mind Blast 1 Claw Block 1 Shadow Warrior 1 Shadow Master 20 Venom Martial Arts 20 Dragon Talon
Idea is to max out Death Sentry and Lightning Sentry ASAP in parallel at the same time as the shadow skills that aren't Venom to support you through the game.
Then start maxing Venom/Dragon Talon (DT first) late NM for an alternate kill method in hell since a lot of stuff will be lightning immune. Alternatively for a safer route and/or if your gear is really bad, you can max Shadow Master instead of Venom/Dragon Talon for safety... but you have to be pretty patient against lightning immune packs/run away from them in that case. If you have the right gear it's sometimes worth it to get a point in blade barrier too in which case lop another few points off charged bolt sentry.
Then max Charged Bolt Sentry later with your really late game points.
For leveling up through normal though I'd suggest maxing Wake of Fire first (at early levels put points into the shadow tree pre-reqs and fire blast), then respeccing into lightning traps later. It's so damn strong in normal.
Plenty of viable builds though.
-- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love!

From: KamikazePotato | #021 Am I seriously this stupid and not find the Den of Evil in the very first quest. God damnit. I looked everywhere outside the village area!
Just follow the road and check both forks in the road whenever it splits <_<

Man, I told you that it isn't worth playing last topic. It's old, feels old, and really isn't good. Playing solo is a terrible idea that's only gonna make this worse. Age murdered this game.
And I know this is 100 percent true because I just played it with 2 others. The only thing it has going for it is unintentional hilarity.

The King Wang. Listen up Urinal Cake. I already have something that tells me if I'm too drunk when I pee on it: My friends. - Colbert.

Okay this game just broke the hoarder in me. I usually like to keep unique items but there is absolutely no room for stuff and I'm not playing with other people who might need them. Selling everything in an RPG for once is kind of liberating. That really good Sorceress' staff I can't use cause I'm not a Sorceress? See ya
you should play on battle.net even if you're going to play by yourself. then you at least have the option of playing with other people if you want to later. also there is some gear you can't get in single player.

That's good to know but it won't even let me sign in. Says my account doesn't exist. Okay.
