I don't know what LL uses, but it sounds like the collapsible box used by some other sites. I think that's the best situation. It can be used for spoilers if you want, but can also be used for other purposes.

The black bar is terrible. Now I have to go through the trouble of highlighting the sentence to read it? Terrible. Definitely would have preferred the LL way. I can't see myself ever using these horrible spoiler tags.
