I say to hell with all these new games, go back and play San Andreas. It's a marvelous game, and I haven't felt the need to play anything else since I picked it up on XBox Live Arcade.

The only thing about dark souls is I really don't feel like dealing with people invading my game. I'm not in an environment where I can be glued to my tv 100% while I'm playing, but I don't want to play it disconnected from Live and I'd like to be able to see other people (not co--op necessarily but the ghost figures and notes and whatnot).

I don't think so. You can't invade, be invaded, or summon, but I think that's it. It might have some marginal gameplay impact but nothing like Demon's Souls where being dead took off half your health.

Being hollow reduces your health to 50% in this game as well, I thought.
Well even if it doesn't, the main drawback is that you can't summon anyone, which is pretty fun, but usually it's not necessary.

Also parrying is impossible, I found it more reliable to just block or dodge the attack.

Nah.

Not sure if you have to be human, but I know that more humanity increases your players defense and resistance. Marginal at best, but it's a still a slight increase.

In other words if you are not concerned with summons and invasions the difference between being human and undead is a few defensive points, and to be honest, I'm not even sure if you have to be human. You may just need to have the humanity.

I can only parry the attacks the lance hollows in the first area.

Otherwise it'S impossibru.

I used it pretty often for my first playthrough and I didn't feel like I was spoiling anything. There is just so much info in the game that isn't told to you anywhere, so I find a wiki useful.
