I feel like just buying the items takes some joy out of obtaining them. But I guess if they just get rid of a decent chance of me getting the items I want, I'll have to play it their way.

The auction house makes obtaining the exact items you want sooo much easier than in Diablo 2. In D2, if you could even find somebody with the items you wanted, you'd have to have something they wanted as well. This could take some time and be quite frustrating. Now, it's as simple as searching for whatever you want and getting it instantly.


But prices are pretty crazy so you can't get everything right away. You gotta be a bit clever about it and get what you want within a budget.


Farming typically won't get you exactly what you want, but it'll get you awesome things that OTHER people will want. So you put that up on the auction house rather than having it rot in your stash or on a mule like it would on D2. Then you buy the gear you want with the money you get. It's like trading a barbarian item for that witch doctor item you want, just with a couple steps in between.


As someone working through Inferno, I have to say this system has worked out very well.

Well that's why there were currencies of SOJs and runes and such. You didn't really have to find anything that was that great for yourself, just something that you could sell for SOJs, which you could buy things with.

The AH doesn't really change this, because like you said, you farm to find stuff to sell in the AH, and then you use the gold you get to buy what you want. It just forces the currency to be actual gold instead of items like SOJs, and provides godlike stat filtering that lets you find the best items really easily.

Melee has just as much trouble with this. You kind of can't hit stuff if you're always running out of the crap on the floor.

Yeah I feel d3 could use a better indicator that you're taking damage. Seems like it happens way too often that I'm taking damage I don't realize it as quickly as I rightly should if my eyes aren't exactly on my character.

Like I realize they didn't want it to be "loud" but the "ugh" "oof" sound effects of d2 really helped drive home "you're getting hit"

Accidentally bought 4 new hand crossbows on the auction thanks to it being a dick and telling me it was timed out and the item was then sold (to me apparently, but it gave no indication of that until I exited the game and went back in). Already sold 2/3 of them back at the price I paid for them... should've gone higher. I bet you can make tons of money buying lowball-buyout items and reselling them higher.

Hey question like that, do be ever meet Abd Al-Hazir? Maybe in some event or something? I didn't meet him in my playthrough but I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the game as an ally or an hostile.

Both the spider bosses were easier, at least for DH. Though I can't image they'd be much harder for the melee classes unlike the fat bosses.

Yeah this is my biggest problem with the game so far. Is there even a sound your character makes when they get hit? Basically all of my deaths so far have been because I wasn't really aware that I was taking damage.

What? Her minions? At least on Hell, she summons like four of them and they are nothing. At least for DH. Then you lay in with rocket launcher and take a quarter of her health in seconds. The spider queen was pretty easy too, but I mean I never got hit from anything in the magda fight. As for Azmodan, he got tougher enough in Nightmare that I think his Hell form will be a good fight. But he's a joke in Normal, he doesn't do anything and might be the easiest boss there.

There are three kinds of authenticators. The mobile authenticator that you get on your smart phone that is completely free, the keychain authenticator that you pay $6.50 for, and the dial in SMS authenticator where you call a toll free number that automatically generates you a number to log in with for free. The last one only works for WoW and has been stated by Blizzard many times. That's what the topic was originally about, a guy getting hacked with an authenticator that isn't even designed to use with Diablo 3.

Of course, even having a mobile or key fob authenticator isn't 100% secure. But that topic doesn't say "the authenticator doesn't work." It says a handful of WoW players over the years have been compromised with it. Of course they have. This exact same stuff has been going on for years in WoW. What you people don't seem to understand is that there are hundreds if not thousands of chinese gold farmers aggressively trying to obtain your password. They are using all kinds of methods to obtain it. Blizzard has put a lot of effort into trying to help players secure their accounts, but they can't make sure you are keeping your computer virus free. I can't believe that article actually says "oh, Blizzard says don't download strange stuff or you can't play diablo 3, what a corrupt company." If you download some malicious program, you sure as hell can't do anything like log into a bank account without risking it being compromised.

People don't seem to realize that a Diablo 3 (or WoW) account actually is worth money to those gold farmers, which is why they want into your accounts so badly. Don't be dumb, just get the authenticator or you deserve what happens to you. 99.9% of the time it will deter hacking attempts that would have otherwise succeeded.

Last time I got hacked the hackers GAVE me the authenticator.

That was nice of them,granted they stole everything I had in my bags and money, not my bank oddly enough. Blizzard let me keep me the pet that came with it..

I've never had any online account of mine hacked/compromised in my entire life and I don't use anti-virus or authenticators or anything, and I often download strange programs on the internet for hacking android/PSP/etc.

I was using poor strategy beuing drubnk and and all but when I finally figured it out, I had spent too mcuh on Resolentdant potions and f*** that spelling. I'd rather rape their mothers than spell them correctly that's how pissed off I am and I apologize for that anyway... motherf***ers

Yeah, Belial is way tough. Tougher than the Butcher at least.

Belial is the only remotely hard boss because of the 4th* phase.

D does get harder in Hell though. Nightmare and Normal he's a wuss though. Hell the prison can instagib, but its best to be on the lookout for those. The other hard hitter is the clones, and that's really about it.

Azmodan is a joke, and Pudge if you even have the slightly near necessary gear hes a joke in later levels as well.

Classes

-Monk - Active Skills
--Serenity, Skill Rune - Tranquility
---Duration of immunity granted to nearby allies from crowd control effects reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second


General

-Players should no longer receive an "Error 14009" when logging in

-The "Select a Hero" menu will now also display the difficulty level for each character

-Several speed improvements have been made to the streaming downloader


Achievements

-All players in a party should now receive "Till Death Do Us Part" even if they don’t have Haedrig Eamon as their active follower


Acts - Act IV

-Witch Doctors should no longer receive an error if they kill a Shadow Clone with a Damage-Over-Time (DoT) skill after it's launched a Firebomb but before it's reached its target


Auction House

-The auction log in the Completed tab will now display a player's activity (bids, buyouts, sales, etc) in the proper order

-When placing a new bid over a previous bid on the same auction, players will now be provided with the correct warning message: "Raising your maximum bid on an Auction you are already winning raises your current bid to just above your previous maximum bid. Are you sure you want to continue?"

-Players will now receive an error message if they attempt to purchase an item after the 50 item limit has been reached in the Completed tab

-The "Physical Damage" Preferred Stats option for rings has been renamed to "Bonus Minimum Physical Damage"

-The "All Damage" Preferred Stats option for weapons and armor has been removed and replaced with bonuses of specific damage types

-Items which have been purchased from a vendor and equipped by the player can now be sold on the Auction House

-Listing items on the Auction House from a different character than the one currently selected should no longer cause item display issues

-The public chat list will now sort alphabetically
