Intro: Hello, and welcome. This is something I started with friends when Gamefaqs released its first Character voting tournament. I have never made it public, as I felt it lacked interest. However, after browsing these boards I see quite the contrary. Let me go over the rules:
VOTING RULES: - You can only vote once per battle. No alts/editing/deleting. - I have been counting a set number of votes up until now. Depending on how popular this is I may stick with 5 votes for a win or time cap it. - You vote for the character who you think would win in an actual fight, not popularity. Some imagination required. =) - There are 5 divisions each character is broken into. - Each tournament takes 16 random characters from each division and pits them together. - The divisions are: Grand, High, Mid, Low, and Pathetic. - Do not vote on battles where you do not know both characters. Just skip it.
HOW IT WORKS: - Every character's Win-Loss ratio, and division championships are recorded in a spreadsheet. - Using this data each character has an "overall" value that tells you what division they compete in. The value starts between 0-100. It can go over 100, but not below 0. - The characters move up and down this overall rating by winning or losing. Every win is 1 point, every loss is minus 1 point. This means if you don't like the division a favorite character of yours is in, all you have to do is vote for them to win.
As stated before, when you vote in this round you may add up to five video game characters to the roster. They can include real people. If they are athletes, they must be on the cover of a game. Along with each entry, you may give me a number 0-100 of how "good" this character is in terms of fighting. 100 being highest. I will then most likely accept your rating and enter them into the roster. There is no way to list the entire roster at the moment, as I said it is 500+ strong. I will post win-loss records, tourney victories, and names of fighters who have competed in at least 1 tourney when I post up the next tourney.

So how many other places is this contest being run?
Mainly here, though I was afraid it was losing steam, so I started asking people in SWTOR and WoW. I don't mind posting other's votes from those games, if wanted.
Remember, all you voters can add up to five characters to the roster. I know that you can't see the entire roster, though I will add any not on the roster.

Frankly, I think that in the future, people who want to participate should post their votes themselves. Otherwise you're going to run into accusations of foul play and such.

I agree, I was thinking of dropping the required vote number to 3 for the next tournament. If it gets a bit more popular I can always raise it back to 5.

Or just make it so that whoever has more votes after 24 hours wins. With 3 votes you're gonna make it so that many people who would want to vote in a match with well-known characters would be unable to do so if the don't see the topic in time. Another thing I would suggest is to emphasize that this is not a popularity contest like most of the contests on this board (perhaps by bolding that part of the rules)
