not quite. Each trophy has a point value (bronze - 15, silver - 30, gold - 90, platinum - 180) and you need to reach a certain amount of experience points to level up

From Levels 1 to 12 there's a gradual increase in the amount of points needed to level up starting at 200 points to go from 1 to 2. Once you hit 12 it'll always require 8000 points to level up until you hit level 26 at which point it goes to 10,000 points to level up. There has yet to be an increase in that amount even has high as Level 81 so it's probably never going to get higher than that.

it's not hard to get a high number count, provided you play games all the way through. most games you can get close to 50% completion without doing anything crazy.
