From: KamikazePotato | #006 Gameplay looks great, but the two trailers they've shown so far have been pretty bad. Not that that affects the actual game, but man. Whaa? I loved the trailer. I do love Depeche Mode though, so that may have had something to do with it.

Oh god this is hilarious. When that song came on and you saw child Raiden doing the "badass walk"... so dumb
But the gameplay looks amazing. You can definitely see Platinum's involvement much more in this trailer than before. The movement/animation is so DMC-like.
Haha, holy crap. That trailer was pretty bad. The game itself looks INCREDIBLE though. Platinum seems to be the only lot left in the business that understands what an action game should be like, so I'm seriously looking forward to this.
Man, it was hard not to laugh when that song started playing at the beginning of the trailer. Not what I would've expected for a Metal Gear game. The gameplay looks all right, I guess, but I'm not too interested in it.
But I do love how at the end of the trailer, Raiden says, "But I was wrong," and then a random voice shouts right at the end of the trailer "WRONG"
Gameplay looks better in this one than the other trailers though I'm not sure whether it's because they made improvements or because they aren't emphasizing the combo based combat in this one and instead displaying for stealth kills and stuff.

Well I don't think it will be either. I'm just saying the formula of Raiden flipping out in killing crap in a Devil May Cry style game with light stealth elements done right would be better than any of the other MGS games except maybe 2.

Ouch, no way man. The gameplay definitely looks like a step in the wrong direction as far as my tastes are concerned. It will probably be enjoyable enough thanks to the swordplay, but I'm one of those crazies who actually likes the Metal Gear storyline a good bit and doesn't find as much at fault with the dialogue on the whole as a lot of you.
Each game in the series has had a few terrible lines, though, but it looks like under Platinum Games' 'tutelage' Kojima Productions is finding a way to make it all so much worse. That narrator was cheesy as f*** and oh my god, 'yay', more light/dark bulls***. Augh.
The Depeche Mode song was a nice touch though but the generic whiny metal tracks that sound like they'll be making up a good bit of the OST are doing absolutely nothing for me.
The series has often been totally over the top and ridiculous but it's always been tempered and balanced with more reasonable stuff. So you might have The Pain...The Pain...THE PAIINNN, but then there's Boss' monologue. You might have "THROUGH THIS ARM!" but then you have Olga's little dilemma. You have Volgin grabbing Snake's crotch and then you have the fairly stark scene in the torture room where Snake has his eye shot out. In MGS4 you have...whatever the hell Raiden has become but then you have his more human issues, the collapse of his marriage to Rose, etc.
People saying "lol how can you hate this for being over the top, it's MGS" are missing the point. Bayonetta was ridiculous. All the time. It basically never stopped being ridiculous at any point. And partly as a result of that, the fun-if-flawed gameplay was lost in the fact that everything else about the game was fairly poor.
I'm not going to sit here and say MGS' dialogue and story has always been some bastion of sanity, but it's always had some kind of human issue anchoring it somewhere. This doesn't.
Will probably be the first Metal Gear game since Ac!d 2 that I don't buy immediately.
