Toly tried to get into the van and drive off once Alasar was killing him, so Alexis hopping in with him and started whaling on him with a fire axe while he was driving
Toly was a character experiment for me. He was basically a strongman badass who was legitimately in a pretty hard up gang of Threesians in British Columbia. But the way he spoke and the way Threeians look made it just IMPOSSIBLE for a non-Threesian to respect him.
The idea was to make the players think about what theyd do with a character so ridiculous demanded respect due to his power. The answer was:still not respect him at all, which was kind of funny.
Then of course he went on a rampage, which is really the only kind of result that can come from that kind of situation. If not for how stupid that tear off spell was, Toly probably would have murdered Glyck and been on his way.

Even now, I think Arnaud was the funniest character we've ever had. While Toly's heel turn was the funniest individual scene, Arnaud was pretty much hilarious all the time. I remember that time we were camping in the woods or something and he was using like ten blankets, it was just amazing. He was also a pretty interesting character since he had no morals and was literally obsessed with the paranormal. I can't wait to see his return in Hell97.
my favorite Arnaud moment was when Simeon and Gunther deadlifted him and Nic just to show off how badass you guys were while you were busting into that warehouse
2. Ress aka Maria Taylor (1897/2097) Played by saveus_Maria
Ress was pretty easily my favorite NPC. She was just awesome every time she appeared since she was totally evil and didn't care about anything. I found her kind of obnoxious at first but then I just played Hunter to act as if she wasn't some immortal witch and this made every scene she was in hilarious to roleplay as well. Then it was great when we found out she was literally eating people and just no one in the party (besides literally Nicholas) even cared. In 2097, she was our boss and she was still good in this role but I liked her more in 1897 since she had a lot more room to badass things there. Also I'm pretty sure she looked like she was 13 or something which is just hilarious. Probably the best Ress moment (well it's more of a Hunter moment) was in the big forest battle and she was flying on her broom at "ludicrous speeds" and then Hunter jumped on the back followed by Victor. She kind of turned face there too except she still kidnapped and ate children. Always will be a face character in my mind.
I think the best "face" moment that Ress had which was probably one of my favorite moments of original 1897 is when you guys got to the first ever bossfight (with the guy who had those shadow powers, Lasker, and then all of the bandits with handguns and rifles)
Victor ran off and was basically sneaking through the compound while Nic was holding off the enemy bandits at range with his handguns, while Like and Hunter started fighting Lasker
Ress was basically just hanging back like 'yeah this is dumb I'm not going to get killed by that dude with the 8 foot long sword'
then Like went down
then Hunter got hit really hard but wasn't quite down, and then Ress jumped in to save him
1. John Hunter (1897/2097) Played by zea imo obviously
the most obvious #1 of all time
1897 was seriously the best gaming experience I've ever had. And by that I mean more fun than any video games even. A big part of that is probably the fact that it was my first RPG but another big part of it is playing John Hunter for most of it. Hunter can probably never be replicated by me again. He was just an attempt at playing a character that is totally ridiculous, over the top, badass, and stupid. He was obsessed with his "nakama" and being American. What being American meant well that was entirely dependent on the game at any given moment. So I could just be totally random and ridiculous while playing him. There were like 20 times he should have died by doing dumb things but just really lucking out.
I had the idea to transport him 200 years into the future in some boss fight with a literal baby and we did it. Sadly, I got kind of bored of playing him in 2097 and he had just about the most anticlimactic death of all time. I also had some moments where I think I just roleplayed terribly but 2097 had some shining moments like in the game show where Hunter used his only luck point to incorrectly answer a question first with about the most ridiculous answer possible.
Anyway let's see
top 10 john hunter moments
10. Hunter jumps on Leslie's bed 9. Hunter's interactions with Ress and Ress's house 8. Hunter knows how to pilot a mech for some unknown reason 7. Hunter camps out with Meyers 6. Like turns face and he and Hunter become bros 5. Hunter accuses Leslie of kidnapping and/or murdering his sister and then does the rock bottom on him in his own house 4. Hunter travels through time 3. Hunter jumps off of a crow's nest onto a zombie 2. Hunter solos Yotsuba 1. Hunter uses inspiration
another thing I loved was how Arnaud's "Occult Knowledge" skill was always best represented by hosting a seance and playing with a ouija board
from the first time when everyone was skeptical and then it hilariously failed (as Arnaud kept trying to justify that he was totally a master of the occult)
to later times when you guys actually got random NPCs to join in on the seances that worked and it was hilarious
to I think the last time he used it to try and solve a mystery and ended up pissing off a grim reaper, which ended up actually turning pretty badass
there was just such a good range of great moments all based around that damn seance/ouija board motiff
