The only other RPG I've ever done this with has been Final Fantasy VII, so this is a big deal for me.


Loving the nostalgia-- almost goosebump inducing.

I am a busy man, so I rarely replay anything. Maybe when I settle down I'll take another go through FFVI, CT, and FFT (3 others that round out my top 5)

What's the difference?

If I had to swap out FFT (since it's not a traditional RPG) I'd probably go with Chrono Cross

That one is likely to separate me from the rest

Literally been meaning to replay Xenogears for 11 years now.

But as fantastic as the story is (GOAT?), the thought of going through the mind numbingly tedious dungeons again is almost too much to bear...

Most of them don't bother me, but I'll readily admit that has a lot to do with the fact that I replayed the ever-loving s*** outta this game in its first few years so I can practically navigate the Kislev Sewers blindfolded

I need to go back and beat this game but I just find it so boring

but I like to entertain myself with stupid things and making Fei into a memetic badass.

like at one point, you're able to head butt mechs until they explode

First of all, yes it is the GOAT

And that is coming from someone who believes that FFVII has the greatest cast, protagonist, antagonist, and setting in any video game ever. So for me to break on plot means a lot.


And yeah, the dungeons are why I've put this off for so long. I literally haven't played an RPG in about 6 years, so I don't know how I'm going to tolerate the crawls.

Oh hey I'm still in the middle of slowly playing through this right now. I just finished the boss fight where you are in the middle of beginning to retake the kingdom (not sure how helpful that is, but I don't want to throw down spoilers even though it probably doesn't matter. I'll just say dat drive). The gameplay is a little raw to me, but the story keeps me coming back, I guess. It doesn't have enough pull, yet, so it's being really slowburned at the moment.
