It just seemed different this time, like he had finally turned that mythical corner, like he was ready for the mantle.

He had 30 points for the game. He had 7 points in the 4th. That's pretty much on par for his game average. And he had 4 points in the 1st, so it was hardly his worst shooting quarter. This is also his best Finals performance by quite a large margin, and it's just Game 1.

For comparison's sake, he averaged 2 points in the 4th during the last Finals series, where he legitimately choked. And you're seriously arguing that a statline of 30/9/4 is returning to "that guy." Who is "that guy"? The reigning MVP?

I just really don't understand some people. Why post about sports when you clearly have no clue how to analyze sports? It just leads to embarrassment.

I yearn for the day that Wade gets called out for playing like s*** like he has been. People keep jumping on LeBron because he's "choking" while having a supposed top 5-10 player as his #2, but he keeps playing like garbage and no one says a word.

No, the guy PETRIFIED to touch the ball in crunch time in the fourth, ou know, the guy who stood behind the 3 point line and did not move 1 single inch during the last 2 (relevant) possessions. What did he have during meaningful minutes of the fourth quarter? 2, maybe 4. On 2 for 6 shooting and utter fear to take the ball. That guy.

Seriously. And he CAN do it, too. He nailed that ice cold three to finish off the Celtics with the shot clock going down in Game 7.

But the Heat were just tired this game. I expect them to play better in Gm. 2. Thunder executed so well down the stretch though and they have done for the past 5 games now that I don't know how they lose this series.

To me, this has been the more significant story of the post season for the Heat. LeBron has turned in great performance after great performance, while Wade has been average at best. Today, he was awful. He is by far more to blame for the loss than James. The whole concept of a big three doesn't work when one of your guys plays like him.

Still, there are six games left and the Heat are hardly out of it. Everyone can jump back on the "Heat choked" bandwagon if and only if they end up losing.

There will be no 'Heat choked' storyline. They are up against a team that is just as, if not more talented than they are.

The issue is that everyone thinks LBJ should be able to overcome that. Whether you agree with that or not is up to you. While I enjoy his inability to win a ring as much as anyone, I don't expect him to be able to take down a team as good as the Thunder by himself. That just ain't gonna happen.

if it's closely contested sure, the thunder are a deeper team and they have home court which is disproportionately advantageous in the NBA compared to any other sport because the refs are pathetic

if the heat get swept and lebron continues going into his shell in the fourth quarter? heat choked.
