I'm one who prefers Galaxian a whole lot compared to Galaga. The controls are a little stiff (every version mind you) but the bonus rounds are quite fun. Nothing too special and has aged as poorly as the original Space Invaders.

No way, Galaga's way better than Galaxian I think. Could never enjoy Galaxian, but Galaga is the oldest game that I still enjoy.

^ Everything's just too big in Galaga which results in so many cheap deaths. If it werent for the bonus rounds, Galaga would be just another Space Invaders type game.
Play the fast version of Galaxian. So good.

Thinking about it some more it's kind of hard to rate these.

I was never an arcade fan, and the games are too short/repetitive to really compare with consoles.

At the same time, they are too fun for short bursts to rate low.

^ Those games are classics and probably the greatest of their time but it doesn't mean they are comparable to games of today's standards.

I don't try to take that stuff into account.

To me, if I could enjoy it back then, I can enjoy it now.

The arcade formula and structure is just something I can't get into.
It was meant to be short and based on high-scores because of the nature of it being open to the public and pay-to-play.

But this is a deep debate I don't want to get into now.
