Skip Voyager and Enterprise.

Even Voyager and Enterprise are ultimately worth watching if you get into the franchise enough. Definitely save them for dead last though, which is convenient because they're... last.

You may even enjoy the lesser seasons of Voyager and Enterprise, then.

Am I the only person on the planet who likes Voyager better then Deep Space 9? Characters are just so much more fun.

You aren't the only one. DS9's internet appeal is just notably greater.

Anyway, I vehemently disagree with you, but yeah. You aren't alone.

I've heard multiple people tell me they like Voyager better than DS9. I haven't seen it yet though.

Voyager is significantly more episodic than DS9, but still more arc-based than, say, TOS or TNG. The Doctor is far and away considered an excellent character; some who would otherwise despise the show watched it primarily for him. Seven of Nine is reasonably well-liked too, despite all the obvious ratings-grab nonsense blatantly at work when she was hired on to replace Jennifer Lien's Kes.

Janeway is commonly cited as the worst captain though, because the writers had like six different definitions of the woman and seemed to just pull one out of a hat every week. She was all over the place. Chakotay was a nightmare too -- his 'representation' of Native American culture was actually just a smorgasbord of cliches smashed together and his actor was about as captivating as a block of wood left in the sun for a year. Neelix is so infamously awful to most Trek fans that the less said about him the better, which is a shame because underneath those prosthetics, his actor is actually a neat dude.

Tuvok is OK. Paris is the stand-in for 90's 'average guy'. Torres is OK. Kim is kind of hilariously boring.

And as far as overall plot is concerned, nothing of drastic import ever happens and is truly felt on Voyager compared to the plethora of big events as DS9 goes on. It gets comfortable and just drifts for the most part, which is only of such major note because it's obvious it wasn't intended to be quite so TNG-ish like that.

I actually like Voyager. DS9 is my favorite. I might like Voyager more than TNG, I'm not sure. I'd have to watch through all of Voyager.

Voyager definitely has its appeal. The finale left kind of a perpetually sour taste in my mouth though.

TOS is the best

TNG is good. it has really high high points. The Inner Light, most of Worf's Klingon stuff, Chain of Command. it doesn't get good until around season 3 though so be prepared for a rough couple of seasons at first.

DS9 is good but also doesn't have the best start. people called it "Deep Sleep 9" at first because there was some boring stuff in there. once some of the major arcs start up it gets really good though. also there's a couple good episodes mixed in towards the beginning to keep you going.

Voyager has a couple moments but on the whole I'd say it is skippable. none of the characters are good. TOS has great characters, TNG has okay but kind of boring characters except a couple standouts, DS9 has more of an ensemble cast, and Voyager has The Doctor + a bunch of scrubs no one wants to watch.

I actually agree with the majority of that, Omar, although I'd still say DS9 is king.

I do like DS9 a lot

but I put TOS over it because it has that sense of adventure. you get the feeling with a TOS episode that some new thing you never thought of is lurking around the corner. a new race, a new planet, a crazy situation. and it's up to Kirk and his buddies to sort it out. the ways he sorts it out are pretty cool. sometimes he makes impassioned speeches, sometimes he makes the girl fall in love with him, and sometimes he punches his way through it. no matter which it is, you're usually guaranteed "something crazy is gonna happen and Kirk is gonna be awesome and figure it out." I really enjoy that.

Yeah, it's definitely cool. How do you feel about the movies? I know there are a lot of people who aren't as big on the show but love some of the films, actually. I love the show and the films, especially II, IV and VI. (F*** yeah, evens, I guess.)

I prefer the, uh... what's a good term for it... I don't know, more "TV-dramatic" style that mid-to-late DS9 emphasizes, and all the cool techniques it employs -- like film noir episodes, and stuff like that. And I like watching characters like Sisko come into their own, and Kira and Odo continue to develop and stuff like that.

But TOS is terrific, and I respect anyone who puts it above DS9 for the reasons you listed!

I like most of the TOS movies, basically all except the first one.

I'm not a fan of any of the TNG movies. First Contact is probably the best but it's pretty bad too.

I would've liked a DS9 movie but it's too late for that. Also with the way the series ended you'd have to contrive some silly things to make them all get back together. That series ends on a pretty resolved note on all sides.

Yeah, pretty much. Although admittedly I've actually gone and started reading some of the DS9-R novels. They're surprisingly good. >_> But DS9 definitely ended quite nicely.

I like all the TOS movies except the first and the fifth. And I agree about the TNG movies, but I don't think First Contact is bad. Just not the amazing flick some paint it out to be.

I've only rrally watched TOS, Voyager and TNG myself. TNG was the only crew I loved. But I need to go back and watch TOS again. My experience with that was when I was younger and couldn't get last the hokie special effects.

Now the TOS movies are a different story. Loved them all but 4 and Wrath or Kahn is one of my favorite movies of all time. One of the best villains ever.
