Two interesting things of notes on that page: - On the top, it says "Achievements", "Character Booster" and "Cloud Saves", indicating it will use Steam service. - On the bottom, it mentions the price as "BUY NOW PC Digital Download £7.99 / 9.99", so this is definitely just a straight port or a rework of the old PC port, not a remake and I don't think Square will even "remaster" it >_>
Act of Terrorism - blow up Sector 7 Perfect Crossdresser - Cloud in bed of Don Corneo Zolomy~ - pass the swamp for the first time without Chocobo Mini Ninja - get Yuffie Obligatory Zombie - get Vincent Interrupted by Fireworks...? YES! - dating with Barret Someone Cries - Aeris Crisis Core - unlock extra scene in Nibelheim
I played FF8 on PC and got pretty far with that (never had the PS version) before I got sick of the bugs crashing my game and quit on it. If they had a bug-fixed version of that, I might consider playing it. FF7? Meh, I'll just dig out the PlayStation.
clearly this is pointing to a Wii U exclusive release of FF7 in 2013. or a remake! remake goes to PS3, 360, PC, and later on Wii U. perhaps even, an upgraded port to the 3DS or Vita!
(it's the pc release on steam)

"Maybe it's a tentacle, molesting the planet itself. - Aschen Brodel.
Actually being on Steam isn't technically confirmed yet, but having achievements is one of the strong indications that it will be on Steam!
(yeah, the game has been on Steam registry for almost a year now, along with FF8, but there's never been anything to come out of it until recently. hopefully this means they have been working on a proper port - and probably enhancing something, at least for that "Character Booster" thing - and not just give us the old buggy PC version!)
If its compatible with mods, it's a fine port. Most of the problems of the PC port were incompatibility issues with new Windows OSs and the godawful MIDI soundtrack, which the FF7Music mod fixes perfectly.
The hardcore mod patch is stupid however. I spent 30 minutes on Guard Scorpion because the mod thought it would be funny to give it 10x HP making you grind for potions for 2 hours.
Official Naming - rename Aeris to "Aerith" All My Strife Pays Off - buy the house in Costa del Sol Summons of the Round - get all summons Materia Master - master all type of materia at least once Precious Stones? Pfft! - defeat Diamond, Ruby, Emerald weapons Chocobo Racing Champion - get everyone to admit you are the best in Chocobo Racing! I Wanna Be the Very Best - get all Cloud's limit break Gotta Do This Before Dying Your Hair - get all Aeris' limit break Be Nobuo Uematsu - get all Tifa's limit break Now Is About the Train - get all Barret's limit break Don't Lose Your Number - get all Red XIII's limit break We Have to Dive Deeper! - get all Cid's limit break All Parts of Growing Up - get all Yuffie's limit break Mother Zombie - get all Vincent's limit break Cloud Doesn't Save - not putting up a save point in Northern Crater and beat the game
It's more of an achievement to use Knights of the Round though. A) It's hard to get. B) IIRC, using it during Bizarro Sephiroth makes Safer Sephiroth harder.

The only ones I liked are the Costa Del Sol and maybe getting all the summons.
Trophies/acheivements should not be about doing annoying things like changing a character's name or over-the-top challenges like beating the WEAPONs or mastering all materia.
The simplest way to put it is that they encourage you to play the game. Not just the main quest but to try out all aspects of the game, and to reward going the extra mile without going too far and alienating most players.
Getting everyone's Level 2 Limit Break is a good one because it requires you to use every character a good amount without forcing you to grind for the characters you don't care for, for example. Mastering X amount of unique materia (like 5 about), because it calls attention to the AP system and encourages you to at least stick with a few.
The Costa del Sol one is cool because it gives you a reason to do something with your money, and rewards the player who was a little more mindful with his gil.

I agree about changing a characters name not being an achievement, but I don't see anything wrong with the Weapons one, or the Mastering Materia one. Stuff like that or breeding golden chocobos ARE achievements. They take work to do.
There should be an achievement for being selected by Don Corneo.

Yeah that's good too.
but I don't see anything wrong with the Weapons one, or the Mastering Materia one. Stuff like that or breeding golden chocobos ARE achievements.
I feel that those things are above and beyond even normal hard work. The existence of the trophies isn't going to convince anyone who wouldn't want to do it, and the people that do will feel rewarded because, as you said yourself, they are achievements in and of themselves.
No thought put into those. Though i kinda like the costa de sol one.
There should be one for dating barret, beating emerald without the underwater material, getting to that one forest area before beating ultima weapon, winning the slap fight, some golden saucer ones. Just to brainstorm a few
See?i hate achievements and i came up with better ones
Wasn't aware you could get to the forest without beating Ultima either. His dying blows up the mountain blocking the road to it. Unless you can do it with Chocobos or something

We are thought, and reality, and concept, and the unimaginable
Honestly i don't know. Ive always ASSUMED you could get there yourself via chocobo based on the fact you find some weapons in there for cloud that are WEAKER than the ultima weapon, even though you just got it
Isn't the point of the sword in that forest the fact that it has a 3x modifier to AP gains, making it ideal for Materia grinding? Not for attacking? Or is that a different sword?

I have Final Fantasy VII on the PC. Produced by Square East Asia or something like that. It's sort of a mess, and for whatever reason it crashes if you have the Community Codec pack installed, but it did fix a few of the stupider moments in the English script.
