I expected it to be like Snakes on a Plane, but it managed to take itself seriously without being cheesy. And the set pieces are awesome, especially one in particular about mid-way through the film.


I would say, however, that if you don't like violence against CGI horses, then you might want to give it a miss.

Does knowing American history help to enjoy the movie?

Oh, I am one yet many.

Eh, not really. I don't know that much about American history, but I kinda guessed that most of the characters were based on real people. All you need to know really is general knowledge about Abraham Lincoln, like him being honest and that he chopped down a tree, etc.
