I think that it's an upgrade, but not too much of one. Things are a bit more fluid and the sword is actually utilized well, but the environment can get a bit stale and the controls didn't seem to be as responsive as I thought they would with the Wii Motion Plus attachment.

I didn't hate the first one, thought it was average, but I think that this one is above-average. You could do much worse

1 was a gun game featuring swordz (... plus being a mess of a game)

2 is a sword game featuring gunz



the games are really nothing alike at all, and I have no idea why they even kept the "Red Steel" name when everyone knows 1 was a wreck - 2's just completely different in story, gameplay, art, characters..... everything. and it's pretty good, definitely worth playing
