The GBA remakes of FF1/2 didn't have any impact on later numbering of the FF series. There is absolutely no reason either of the barebones DS remakes would either.

No, New Mystery of the Emblem was actually a really good remake. Don't judge it on Shadow Dragon, because they fixed a LOT of what was wrong and improved a lot otherwise.

That's because all of the Final Fantasy games are actually numbered; numbering FE games is just a fan shorthand as none of them are actually numbered.

What exactly was FE12 anyway? I didn't like Shadow Dragon; will I like FE12? And is FE12 a remake of one of the old ones or something?

Mistake you're making - overlooking the fact that we might not want to be saved.

It's a remake of FE3, the sequel to FE1. (FYI, FE3 came with a remake of FE1 but it still had a sequel in it).

And like I said you shouldn't judge it based on Shadow Dragon because a lot of the missteps they made there are fixed in it and they added a bunch of cool things people wanted like supports. Also, it was the game that introduced the concept of "My Unit".

There's a translation patch in progress for it fyi, and it's pretty much done. It's in beta testing now.

Uh.

You do know the whole remake section of FE1 in FE3 is like, less than half the game, right? There's an entire book 2 in it that takes place later.

Shadow Dragon is 100% just FE1/Book 1 of FE3.

The second DS game is 100% just Book 2 of FE3.

Book 2 of FE3 was already much better than Book 1/FE1, and they improved it much more than they improved FE1 with Shadow Dragon. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it ends up being my favorite, or possibly second to 13 from what I've heard.

They actually improved the out of battle unit graphics a bit. Not much difference overall, considering most complaints were the in-battle animations, but it's something.
