From: tereziWright | #301 Of course the update wouldn't be soon, SDCC ended YESTERDAY.
Though secretly making a flash while signing books would be....hm.
Anyways, new voting day.
He actually did this once, but on a much smaller scale. He went away to a convention and when he came back he posted Jade: Wake Up (the Let the Squiddles Sleep flash).
Let's just hope none of the solo albums are vocal ones. Vocal Homestuck songs that try to be serious are all horrible without exception. So cheesy.
Anyway, do we still assume that the music for the next flash will be by Malcolm Brown? Maybe we could take a look at some candidates to speculate on what the flash will be about. It might just as well be a completely new song, though.
-Encore: The most obvious pick if the flash focuses on the alpha kids. Could fit almost any upbeat scenario.
-Killed By Br8k Spider/Do You Remem8er Me: A flash about Vriska and Tavros f***ing s*** up? A man can hope. Also, GameFAQs really needs to drop the censor thing.
-Pumpkitler Partocalypse: [S] Kids: PARTY TIME
-Rex Duodecim Angelus: Yeah this will never happen except for the fanmade one. Right?

My opinions about Mobius Trip aside, you can't possibly have forgotten about acapella Midnight Crew.
As for Malcom Brown's songs: http://stonefyr.webs.com/comprehensivelist.html I'm rooting for Pumpkin Party, or Encore I guess, but I suppose Lifdoff is another possibility. Everything else has either been used, is a troll or exile song (though I guess Nightmare could fit uu?), or is Hussie Hunt.
New song would be good too, although kind of weird this soon after an album release unless it's something big. Still, Malcom Brown makes good s***.
I like Temporal Shenanigans and Dawn of Man. Also, Squiddle Song (though I'm not sure if that counts as a serious song). Can't think of any other Homestuck vocal songs I like, though.
-- another place and time, without a great divide, and we could be flying deadly high
Bowman's vocals are something of an acquired taste and definitely not for everyone, but he's definitely not bad as a musician. I mean, we're talking about the guy who did Sburban Jungle, here. And hey, the actual music on Mobius Trip is great and that's part of why it's so good!
(also if you thought Beta Version was awful then maybe you just have problems. That one doesn't even have any vocals!)
From: tereziWright | #314 Isn't Squiddle Song done by the Prospit and Derse Guy?
Squiddle Song was one of the ColoUrs and Mayhem B tracks, so nah. And THE Squiddle song (Squiddles!) was done by Alexander Rosetti aka the Horsechestra guy.
Although there was a whole damn squiddles album so I'm sure a lot of people on the music team have done one or two.
Nah, the wait is aggravating but we've already had a ton of content get posted in comparison. Cascade was two months of NOTHING besides those three teaser panels. Now the next puase, that's the one that might be longer.
We shouldn't have that much longer to wait, either. Dirk: Synchronize/Unite took him a week, so if the next flash is something on that scale we should be seeing it Wednesday/Thursday at the earliest. At least, I hope so.
That's a bit surprising. Do you not just subconsciously read the words in a certain voice? I do that with pretty much everyone, not just limited to Homestuck or even fiction.
Anyway, that Doc Scratch voice is really, really good. Might have to change my headcanon. Liked the intro bit there too.

I can't imagine Homestuck characters having voices. No human actor would be able to live up to these characters. Their dialogue is just text in my head.
Maaaan I have to reiterate how I don't get the "I don't give them voices" thing. I mean, fair enough to the people who do it, but I just can't imagine it. Or think I would enjoy reading it that way. It gives 'em character, honestly.
Most are unique voices my subconscious came up with though, I'll agree with that.

I've tried to listen to that song a few times, but I never get further than 20 seconds in before the cheese becomes unbearable and I have to turn it off. Don't know why people like it.
@Lightning Strikes
I imagine the people who give the characters voices while reading are slow readers. I read very fast, so if I tried to imagine their voices while reading they would all be Yuki Nagato speak. Like inaudibly fast robot voices.
I don't really see what's so bad about his post there. It doesn't come off as him saying that people who read slowly are stupid. Just that they read slowly.

Thought does not occur at the same speed as hearing. In the time it has taken me to read this sentence in my head (with my own voice) it would only be possible to actually read a fraction of it aloud. That's just how thought works. Inception time, basically. I read fast too.
Also I love how you can't even get through that without some kind of disparaging/elitist comment.
EDIT: Also Temporal Shenanigans rules. Great instrumentals, great vocalist, pretty good lyrics.

"People who do things different to me are slow" is how I read it, and I don't think that's that surprising.

I don't know what you mean by "passive." If you mean ambient-ish, then certainly not, at least not compared to Vol. 8. If you mean in quality density....then not really, either. There's enough REALLY good tracks to make a decently sized album on par in terms of size and quality with Vol 6 and 7.
IMO Vol 9 is the best Homestuck album. It's got a lot of awesome tracks and the filler is at least decent for the most part.

Actually, I did hide a tiny speck of sneaky elitism in there. I have a reputation to consider.
Also, I haven't read this topic at all, but does anyone else feel that Vol. 9, albeit still pretty damned good, was just far too passive altogether?
It has a lot of filler, but some of the songs are so good that they make up for it. It's not the best album but you'll probably grow to like it a lot, like I did.
Man, now that we're to the point where the flash coming out is feasible it's KILLING me. And knowing there's gonna be 2 weeks of no updates after that? Ugh.
Bored. Everyone post what you think the HS crew would sound like
Doc Scratch: (so good)
I was actually thinking about this earlier.
Karkat sounds extremely raspy and of course is always shouting
Terezi also sounds raspy
Jade and Jane have high pitched voices. Jane's is comically so
Meenah sounds like a stereotyped black chick
Jake sounds like that kid from Yardale with the 4.0 GPA in the South Park movie
I give Tavros a spanish accent
and John sounds nasally.
and it'd be too hard too describe how the others sound in my head since I don't imagine their voices in a special way (i mean besides characters with the obvious accents and Sollux's lisp)
^ He also hinted on twitter that Homestuck may be done by this time next year, but on the other hand this is Andrew Hussie we're talking about. The guy who thought Homestuck would last a year, Hivebent would last 2 weeks, and Act 5 would be the size of a normal act. It could easily take longer than he expects.

I finally believe it. This is not butter. And I know deep down in my heart that I must become butter atheist.
