What. a. sensational. match.
A shorter version of the A012 final no doubt. It definitely had more substance and finesse but less drama.

I feel for Murray. I really do. In all honesty Murray is my second least favorite from the big 4 (still a huge gap between him and Nadal) but this was the one time I didn't really mind someone upsetting Federer in the final of a GS.
I really hope he gets another shot at a major final and wins it the next time. No one deserves such heartbreak. No one. Hats off to you Murray. You've earned my respect.

But on the other hand, what a joyous day this is for tennis. The king is finally back on top, now as the undisuted GOAT of tennis. And at the age of 31.

The moment Federer won the 2nd set I knew we were in for something special and thats exactly when 'God-Mode' Federer showed up and totally bested a very spot-on Murray.

But looking at the bigger picture, the quality of this match was simply ridiculous. Long exquisite rallies, amazing retrievals (on grass), insane angles, merciless attacking tennis (from Federer).

Here's to hoping the old man wins the singles Olympic Gold Medal and Murray wins the USO 2012.

Federer has been the GOAT of Tennis for years now.

Did the slow bus of B8 just pull in?

Anri exists. Probably the most vocal tennis fan on the board and one who constantly - and wrongly - extols Nadal as a player who challenges Federer as a sporting great, which affects B8's voice as a whole.

Anri isn't an obvious troll

Like, I think he exaggerates how much he loves Nadal and such but I think his delusion is, ultimately authentic. And Anri is, without doubt, the most obvious/obnoxious tennis fan on the board. Mana Sword and a couple of others are at a similar level of "obviousness" (basically posting a lot about it).

A couple of things:

One, Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time.

But Nadal IS on his heels and he still has time to take over that title and I honestly believe he will. I mean, to think he isn't in the argument shows some sort of bias because he's got 11 majors, 21 master 1000s (ridiculous number) and a f***ing gold medal. And he ain't done. Not by a long shot. If they both hung em up today, I would be forced to give the edge to Federer but when all is said and done, it'll be Nadal.

Two, HOLY S*** did it feel weird cheering that hard for Andy Murray. I have a ton of respect for him and I almost teared up during his post-match speech.

Three, it's great that you like sports and hyperbole, realo, but to come in here and pretend you know more than the rest of us about tennis is...well, it's so f***ing stupid that you made me side with XIII.

I don't, really.

It's not even the same sport and see no point in comparing.

No one will ever will two calendar year grand slams again but the field Federer accomplished this in is sooo much deeper.

Nadal isn't in the argument now, no. He might be when it's all said and done but Djokovic is there to halt the dominance even when Fed is gone.

Plus his body will break down.

I don't know if you've noticed but Nadal's softened his playing style a bit.

And you're certain that he can't win at least one major a year for the next five years?

Because it doesn't seem that unlikely.

And like I said, it's not all about the majors.

If he has 15-16 and more masters 1000s with a gold medal and a great record against Fed, he's in the conversation if you ask a real tennis fan not blinded by hate.

I am not blinded by love. I love Federer and I am saying it's close.

And John McEnroe agrees with me that Nadal is close.

You are saying he's not close because you hate him.

I'm not claiming he's obviously the best. But he's close.

Also, voltch and Kleenex are the top two tennis historians here. We're probably three and four.

Roddick is the greatest OF ALL TIME.

Seriously though, Fed is #1 obv. Nadal is probably top 5 right now, and he's still got time, so we'll see what happens.

Also feel so bad for Murray right now. Poor guy.

I have Nadal top 10.

Would still put a guy like Lendl above him, dude's lost a lot of finals but he's also consistent enough to make them in the first place.

Also he could have won more french opens if he hadn't been so hellbent on trying to win wimbledon, or he might have made the finals and lost lol.

If he has 15-16 and more masters 1000s with a gold medal and a great record against Fed, he's in the conversation if you ask a real tennis fan not blinded by hate.

Not if 90% of them are achieved on clay. It is already a forgone conclusion that Nadal IS the best clay court player of all time (I will not argue with you on that because I firmly agree) just as it is now a forgone conclusion that Roger Federer IS the greatest tennis player of all time. For the love of god, the man is still breaking records at 31.

Seriously Nadal fans/fan, do you honestly think Nadal is comparable with Federer besides his dominance on clay? Be real honest here. Hell, even the H2H which is basically the bread and butter of Nadal's resume benefits majorly from the fact that most of the wins were on clay. It is no secret that Federer has major match-up issues with Nadal on any court but the old man still enjoys a combined 8-6 H2H on Hard and Grass courts.

Seriously. Just take a real close look at the H2H

Hard Court: Federer 6-5 Nadal
Grass Court: Federer 2-1 Nadal
Clay Court: Federer 2-12 Nadal
Grand Slams: Federer 2-8 Nadal (5 of them were won by Nadal on 'clay')

So lets say Federer and Nadal played 14 times on grass or hard instead of clay. Do you honestly think Nadal would have won 12 out of 14 times there.

Nadal has a LONG LONG LOOOONG way to go before he is even in the argument of the GOAT title. For starters, he needs to win more titles on courts besides clay (Just so you know more than 70% of his titles are on clay) He has to win a WTF title for a change, already 6 behind Federer. He then has to sustain the No.1 ranking for more weeks than Federer (very very unlikely). There are many unbreakable Federer records that Nadal can even dream (some literally impossible) of so no Nadal will probably never be the GOAT. Sorry.

Nadal might come close to Federer's slam total after winning like 10 French Opens but if he really wants the GOAT title, he has to assert his dominance on surfaces not called red.
