yesterday I was looking up showings at the local theater and I was redirected to a strange site. I backed off and tried again and then the page loaded, but I think thats where I picked it up
anyways, I've already ran several scans on each of my programs
malwarebytes doesn't pick up anything
Avast picks up one or two things every OTHER scan
and Superantispyware ALWAYS picks up around 13-16 harmful cookies. it picks them up in the first 10 minutes of scanning and it doesn't pick anything else up the rest of the 2 hours it takes to scan my computer. if I wait 10 minutes, pick up the cookies, stop the scan and delete them right away, and then immediately start another scan, they'll STILL pop up again.
it seems they're getting rid of them but they're somehow being immediately replaced...or maybe they're NOT getting rid of them, I dunno >_>
oh, and Ad Aware completely f***ing died. I have no idea why but it stopped working. I think the virus killed it. it simply doesn't work anymore
If I go to paypal or my bank's website, I immediately get interrupted by a page that says some crap like "WE NEED EXTRA SECURITY, GIVE US YOUR SOCIAL AND YOUR CREDIT CARD", which is obv a load of s***. but they still appear, even after the scans so I know I'm still infected
any words of advice?

alright, after it finished scanning, I deleted everything it detected and I booted up the comp. on the lower right corner of the screen, it says I have Vista, the build of my comp. and thatmy copy of windows is not genuine
what does this mean?

Try an anti-rootkit scan like tdsskiller. I took a class on this sort of stuff, but after I decided to not pursue this sort of thing for a career, I emptied my brain of most of the knowledge I gained in the class. Anyway, maybe that will help.

Do you know what the malware is called that your programs pickup? You could try doing a search for those and following whatever the internet says to remove them.

If your computer still has the Windows key on the side or bottom of it, write that down because you can just type that in to validate your copy of Windows.
But yeah, sounds like you may have a rootkit...and Swift has the right idea, at least with getting Linux. Since you may need that to get rid of it.

you can do it if you buy your own copy of whatever windows version you have or find a friend with it. or just go to a website and acquire it. you have the key already since u legally purchased windows. you use a program that detects your windows cd key, for whatever version it may be, write it down, format the goddamn computer after u acquire ur windows copy and done
I once got a virus that shut down and uninstalled all my antivirus and antispyware, and if I went to any antivirus website to download new ones the virus would redirect me to identical sites that were in fact fake sites containing more viruses.
Gotta applaud their efforts there. Good thing I'm not stupid because I think most people would have been ****ed by that virus.
The solution was of course to identify the virus by taking note of which addresses it redirected me to, and finding a program made specifically to kill that virus. Those exist for the majority of the tough viruses around.
you are absolutely dumb as sin, i am sorry i ever defended you against cyclo. you just continue to waste hours more than you would if you listened to me. i taught myself how to do this crap on my own when i was 13... pathetic pun, you're still a complete dunce *~Swift~*
unless you listen to the guy above who said go to the hijackthis forums they MIGHT be able to help, but not only would reformating solve the problem, it'd make your computer run amazingly smoother in all likelihood. stop being cheap FFS
seriously man, take it easy. Your advice has not fallen on deaf ears, I just simply cannot do it yet. and because of that, I'd prefer to go the formatting route as a last resort.
I appreciate the help you're offering, so don't be offended that I haven't gone and done it yet. I'm very sure it'll fix my s***, I just cannot do it at this time.
and I might be "wasting time" but I'm running these scans while sleeping or going to work or doing other things. I'm not just sitting here, twiddling my fingers and waiting for something to happen.
and yea, I'm pretty ignorant of these things, its true. but that doesn't mean I'm DUMB man. Its a silly thing to call me stupid over. I'm learning here!

I don't understand how every topic I make nowadays needs to have someone questioning my intelligence or something. its getting old
what do you do when you don't know how to do something
you go learn about it.
whats one way you learn about it? you talk to someone whos knowledgeable in it.
this is what I'm doing right now. how is this baffling?
I never owned a computer my whole life, I never owned one when I was 13. I don't deal with these situations that often. I have, and thats how I have these programs, but this topic was just asking for any further advice and any other actions I should be taking
and on top of all of that, I don't make these topics every single day. Again, you're just exaggerating
I don't ask b8 how to wipe my ass or crap like that. Hell, I've SEEN people make those topics! but not me
so yea, you're only bothered, OR BAFFLED, whatever, cause you want to be. you shouldn't care
and if you still are, I'm SOOOO SORRYYYY I made you waste 3 seconds reading my topic titles
