Trading cards should be live! May touch up some of the art at some point, but they're good to go for now. You might need to restart your Steam client for them to start dropping.

Test build of the new keyboard controls is up, should be able to install it by right clicking Chester One in Steam, Properties, and choose to participate in Beta.

Testing it a bit to make sure nothing is horribly broken before making it the live build.

Will be on GMG as well, but that'll just be Steam keys so basically the same thing. Might look into Humble/GOG.


New patch is live for non-beta build
-All new keymapping that isn't completely horrible
-You now switch styles/characters by holding C/S or the Trigger buttons and hitting Left/Right
-V-Sync was added to options
-Reorganized a lot of songs to prevent the same one from repeating on a planet
-Few small changes to earlier levels to make them a little bit easier

And if anyone gets any foil card drops, I'm coming for you.

You know how when you menu switch the art style you have it so it tells you what the differences are in a small blurb.
Could you have it so when you menu switch the characters it tells you what their special does?
It may help dum dums like me >_<

And idk if this is intentional but for the quick chester change button, if you pull the trigger without actually changing the character the quick change will no longer switch characters.

Good idea! Just started working on a redesign for the switching overlays, I'll add that in too.

Haha, I do like the idea of idling and coming back to an achievement you didn't expect. Might make a good secret one.

Maybe something like
"Made a sammy - Vanished for 15 minutes." - Icon of sub sandwich
"Why didn't you call? !- 15 minutes without contact."

Glad you enjoy the idea! Just don't blow it...or rather, Jonathan Blow it by:

1) Making you wait an hour or two.
2) Making you need to do something at the end of your chosen time-period, meaning you have to start all over if you don't time yourself or just sit there waiting for the visual cue to finish your goal.

See the cloud-star in Braid or the moon-puzzle in The Witness if you don't know what I mean.

Oh wow, those sound like they could be frustrating.

I think I'll make it so it'll fire off once you input something after X minutes. So you sit back down to start playing and the game just pops up "WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL?! WHERE WERE YOU?"

Nice, I like the idea of a super challenging one to get.
Maybe in the same vein I'll have beating the end boss on the hardest difficulty without using any specials. Close to as tough but with a much shorter overall time investment.

Ideally if it does well enough on Steam I want to actually go through and recreate the art assets and re-place all of the decorative sprites so the levels feel a bit more distinct from eachother.

Breaking achievements down into 7 categories and have... 61 achievements so far. Well then, that might be about enough.
Might have them up with placeholder art as early as tomorrow night.

I have a general pacifist one that isn't level specific (just not starter world.) Didn't think of making them level specific but I suppose that what I could make sure it's actually challenging. May make it one per planet. Thanks!
If you have any more ideas for challenging ones let me know, that's the category that's lacking the most right now and you seem to have some solid ideas.

I think I'm aiming for around 100 Achievements broken down into 7 categories. Collectibles, General Stats, Game Progress, Chesters, Special Attacks, Challenges, and Other.

Oh, one thing to mention, playing with an XBOX controller, the Failure screen tells me to push start to respawn, but it actually means press A. Thought it worth mentioning, since every other input descriptor gives Keyboard and controller options.

Additionally - when you respawn, the special bar graphic doesn't update. You can switch Chesters and back and it'll update and if you use a Special it will lower (or raise!) it to the right level, so it's not affecting gameplay.

Booted up Chester yesterday. Was super excited to find all my save progress from the Desura version carried over! Did not expect that at all.

Also I am not very good at this game. Still a lot of fun though!
