I don't think either of them are worth pulling for, but I'm not really the most knowledgeable about who's good and who isn't. I would say it's never worth pulling for a base 5 (even though I probably will on the players choice banner when it hits).

Not exactly. They are useful additions for you if you happen to pull them, but not when it comes to synergy in terms of team play. (Nine for example is Kain on dragon steroids with a 3 turn jump with the addition of his new base jump for some serious damage.)

Type-O part 2's metal god will punch your head off, shove it down your pants and pull your genitalia through your rectum otherwise if you don't just steal.

Zidane is significantly better than either of them.

I don't think it's worth training any of them, though. You want to be using your extra space for Type-0 units, not for thieves on the off chance you happen to hit the 2% chance to run into this dude or whatever it is.

While I'm not positive, I would think you shouldn't need Zidane. My understanding on the super boss was that you'd have a few turns to spend trying to steal before it disappears (unless you attack). I'm just dropping steal on everybody in case I run into it, so the whole party can try to steal instead of defending.

locke is a better fighter, zidane is best thief because he guarantees steal.
but yes, the bracer's ultimate purpose will be on one of the new type-0 units, if/when you get them.
