I disagree with foolmo. I thought the first several hours had a lot of soul. Especially for a Zelda game. I loved the solitude and tranquility. It felt very open, no rails, just you and the wilderness.

I completed my first dungeon! The one at Zora's domain. It was cool. The boss was a little frustrating at first, but the good thing is that with how open combat can be there are now multiple ways to take on a boss.

Fun fact for that one: your cryokinesis can destroy ANY ice blocks, not just your's.

This game is so good.

Once I got off the Great Plateau I just dicked around for hours. Still haven't talked to Impa.

Best part was silently gliding down to the eyes of a bokoblin filled skull building, landing stealthily, realizing there were too many and I had next to no gear, then throwing a bomb in the eye and detonating it and their explosive barrel stash before they even saw it.

Everyone died, no one knew I was there.

Same here I've probably put 15 hours into this game now exploring only the plateau, central hyrule and the area Kakariko Village is in and I only just arrived at kakariko village. Spent most of today just doing hyrule castle runs for fun trying to get good equipment (and finding a certain piece of equipment)

I'd recommend going to Hateno Village early on. You'll get your Sheikah Slate upgraded to include a camera and you have a database to fill that requires you to take a photo of every enemy, piece of food and piece of equipment in the game, so the earlier you start on that, the better.

So the biggest complaint I have lines up with fool's: the music.

Everything else, I love.

Managed to get the Master Sword with 13 hearts.

It kinda sucks. It has 30 power and while it doesn't break, it has a cooldown time of 10 minutes after some use.

So am I a weirdo or is anyone else using as little fast travel as possible? I'm a huge fan of Dragon's Dogma and I loved how there was almost no fast traveling in that game because it really made me get sucked into the game world and made it feel like this grand adventure and almost realistic in a way. So because of the way this game is presented, it gives those same vibes and I wanna experience it as if I lived in the world and have to travel by horseback everywhere. Idk I'm loving it so far. Only teleported once to the first tower when the old man told me to.

I use fast travel less than I should. It's pretty fast to get to places on horse or by climbing so I just do that instead sometimes. Might be because I hate the loading screen.

One use for a diamond is rebuilding a certain weapon you can get (not the Master Sword). You get it from the Zoras, so my guess is you could use the other colored gems for similar things with the other races. I don't know though since I've only completed the Zora's portion

with the way I explore every square inch rupees haven't been a problem anyway since there's dozens of chests everywhere with 50 or 100 hiding in them. Especially at the bottom of the rivers

By far one ofy fav things to do is cook baller dishes and sell them for tons of money. Seems like the best way to make money since ingredients are everywhere and simple combinations like Stamella + Staminoka go for a lot of money.

I'm really really enjoying all of the puzzle temples.

Who ever made these was a genius.

I love solving a puzzle and not being 100% sure that it was the "correct" way to do it.

The motion controls are beyond awful though.

Probably not. I strongly dislike open world, but am also very fond of Zelda. So far, there isn't much about the game that doesn't greatly irritate me. I should probably also mention that I can't stand survival games. I'm sure my feelings about it will diminish over time, but this is shaping up to be one of the least fun Zelda games I have experienced (which is all of them that weren't on CD-i).

This is a game that is going to be extremely important and talked about, so it's definitely worth checking out for that alone. Also the game doesn't really stick to open world conventions.

Anyway, I have done the thing at the top of Mount Lanayru. That was... Surprising. However, possibly my favourite moment in the game so far was in the shrine with the gyro-controlled maze puzzle when I realised I could turn the maze upside down and skip it entirely. It's the crazy alternate solutions to everything that makes this game so special.
