Really? I've only done the Zora dungeon so far, and the boss there was really simple. Then again, I've also been cooking up a storm all game, so I had a triple defense bonus during it, and he was doing 3/4 a heart worth of damage.

Yeah maybe I was just unprepared, but I had 5 hearts and was getting hit for around 2.5 from him

I'm still walking around with 3 hearts (4 upgrades into Stamina). I think I'll put one more into Stam just to have a completed second wheel, and then I'll start pumping hearts. It seems wasteful to have food that'll heal 10+ hearts when I only have three.

That, and I'm starting to run into tougher enemies, including the "Major Test of Strength" shrine boss which wrecked my s*** a few times before I gave up.

I've played about two and a half hours so far. I'll never be a fan of the stamina bar I don't think. Granted, walking speed isn't actually that slow, but once you know you can move faster, it's almost a psychological torment to stop, move slower, wait for the recharge, then move quickly again. I had the same problem in Skyward Sword.

I'm on my way to Kakariko Village right now. Graphics are pretty great. Fighting is easy.

Trust me it really does get better in a few hours, just go on the story path as much as possible, that's where all the good stuff is. The annoyances don't really get better though.

The weapon breaking hadn't really affected me until I reached a tough shrine last night. The guardian there just has too much HP - to the extent that I'm guessing I'd have to break all my weapons and use a ton of arrows to take it down. So now I have to weigh whether I want to do that or go out and farm more quality weapons.

I'm not sure how you remedy a situation like this in a game with breakable weapons... just a little annoying is all.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of weapon durability, but I've come to terms with it. I had some gripes with the game early on, but once I got the paraglider and started exploring to my heart's content, I stopped being bothered by the weapon breakage so much. Now it's not that big of a deal. Not great, still, but it's been fine, really.

Some weapons can be repaired.

Also, you can parry the guardian's shots back at them.

You definitely get over weapon breaking. There's the initial shock of "I'm playing Zelda, let me wield a sword and kill everything I want!" but you start to realize it's not going to ruin you, and makes selective combat a real thing on top of making combat in general more of a dangerous proposal.

One of the best moments I've had easily was somewhat early on a friend and I tackling a combat shrine and it was the 3000 HP variety. Took literally all of our resources, and the last hit was delivered with a quarter heart left and broke our last weapon. Rare situation, but only possible with the current system.

Also beat the main quest last night. Clocked in at a little over 42 hours. Did all 4 of the main quests, and ended with 5 memories and like 43 shrines completed. I rarely if ever play single-player games anymore because adulting plus pro-Smash, but I may have to slide this in as the best game I've ever played. I've never done open-world anything (except F'ing around in the old GTA-3 trilogy) so it was kind of a new thing for me. The whole thing just screamed "modern-classic Zelda", and I couldn't get enough. I'm very "go to the net objective point" when I do my thing normally, but I loved exploring, finding towers, shrines, getting ingredients and equipment, etc. I'd head somewhere, get distracted, then get distracted from that distraction, and maybe a few more times and suddenly I've peeled off 4 hours before completing said easy first objective. It was all just a magic I hadn't felt in 15+ years.

Now I'm gonna keep exploring, and find those damn memories. We actually spent a good chunk of time trying to find them and it's crazy how hard they are to find...

If this is your firstish open world I highly recommend you try out some others. There's really amazing stuff out there. I would start with Shadow of Mordor since the open world is very simple and pure like this game (except actually good) and it shows what potential open world design has for the future. Then Assasin's Creed 2 to see how story is done in open world.

What you come to find out about the weapons, is that they are so plentiful that there is no reason to worry about them breaking or hoarding them. And if there are weapons that you REALLY like you can store a few of them eventually.

The only problem I really had with weapon breaking was that I'd find so many weapons I wanted to keep that it took up all my inventory space. Ever since I've upped my inventory where I can hold a bunch of stuff and carry around a number of usable weapons I really don't give a damn about breaking things, and I actually really enjoy it.

I've never had a problem with weapon breaking since I figured there's no point in holding on to an early game weapon since there will be stronger ones. I got my weapon inventory up to 13 now, and can store 3 more in my house. I just throw away the weakest weapon I have when I come across a better one, no biggie.

Just looked up a fuller list of what amiibo can give you. I'm glad to see the Ganondorf amiibo does give something unique, his sword, even if it's random. And the OoT Link amiibo can give you biggoron's sword? Not to mention all the unique link armor sets. They actually seem better than the BotW amiibos besides maybe the guardian one.

You can get the Sword of Six Sages from the amiibo (and I think it's exclusive) but it's a very, very rare drop.

It took a few hours of save file resetting, I was also scanning the old Links + Smash Zelda and I got all of the Link costumes in multiples before I got SoSS and Twilight Bow, I didn't get any of the other Link Amiibo weapons besides Toon Link's Boomerang.
