Episode 5: Turnabout Revolution

I'm not sure if they were given no budget with the Plumed Punisher animation, or if it is just an awful show. It's like Power Rangers without putting any effort into it.

I feel like I have heard this Founder's Orb being mentioned before. Was it the item that was originally in the box from the opening case?

Dhurke sure likes to casually walk in places. It's no big deal being a wanted man in a country that I'm going to assume extradites to Khura'in.

I wonder how Apollo came to live clear across the world for a small period of time as a child.

"Being a wanted man, I couldn't just hop on a plane to come say hello." - Dhurke
- What do you call this then?

The Founder's Orb is apparently in Kurain Village. A doctor of archaeology has it, Archie Bluff. I do not get the pun yet, but the bluff stands out. Perhaps he doesn't actually have the orb.

If the trial takes place in the US, I'm guessing that Datz will be the suspect and Archie will be the victim. It is never a good sign when they show you someone's portrait, especially if the player hasn't met them at all or at least during the episode.

Mention of Apollo's father out of the blue, Jove Justice. I imagine this will be important. He died in Khura'in. Make that super important.

Phoenix is coming back, but I'm guessing that we will also be going back to Khura'in at some point because no way the royal family doesn't make another appearance.

Ema's here, so you know that someone's been murdered. I would have found out sooner if the gang wasn't so preoccupied with a bookshelf when the has been clear signs of a struggle and the outline of a body on the floor. Yep, Archie died. It was ruled an accident, which we all know will swiftly change.

I am starting to warm up to Dhurke after he said that he's making Khura'in a better place through "volunteer work." I'm surprised that Ema through her time in Khura'in didn't at least recognize Dhurke's name. What the hell did she do in her off-hours? Knowing her, she probably collected fingerprints from everywhere and everything.

It's time for another info dump:
- Raincoat was recently worn
- Something is hanging from the ceiling and it CLEARLY isn't a bird (*coughApollocough*)
- Visitor's entrance to the house is on the second floor
- Library can be seen from outside
- Research notes labeled "21" contain info on the founder's orb and mention that only the first half of the Dance of Devotion is sung
- Urn with AMI is broken. I feel like that is a reference to an earlier case where Pearl broke it, but I'm not certain. Was it supposed to spell MIA?
- Locked suitcase from an overseas visitor. Fingerprint analysis says it belongs to Datz.
- Crime scene photo clearly shows it is a murder. The head wound on Archie does not match up to the location of the book that contains probably his blood and coffee.

The urn is supposed to say AMI, Pearl broke it and rearranged it to say I AM in 2-2, Adrian Andrews broke it again in 3-2 and rearranged it back to say AMI

I never understood why they made her name Ami but didn't do an Ami = Mia thing and went with "I AM" instead

Yeah, that's my question.

Also confusing the player is a common tactic for AA anyway. Think - "This wasn't really Mia's urn after all! It was actually that of the founder, Ami Fey!" I mean, okay, this wasn't really the main point of 2-2, but it could have been!

Also yes I realize Ami's name in Japanese isn't an anagram of Mia's name in Japanese, but that makes the choice all the more weird, like, it set up a really false assumption for me as a player that never existed in the Japanese script. Just a weird naming choice. But anyway.

Some douchebag named Paul thinks he will be king (there isn't one) of the nation Khurain (it isn't a country). Ugh, they are making me talk to him. I have nothing to prove to him.

The Founder's Orb's real name may or may not be the Crystal of Ami Fey (cue the eye-rolling). I read what you all said since yesterday, but I did write it down that I was probably mistaken about the urn after learning this.

I'm guessing that since Phoenix and Athena are currently out of the picture, Dhurke is the most likely person to be at Apollo's side during the inevitable trial.

The transfer agreement doesn't prove that Archie believe he had the Founder's Orb. What are you, five Apollo? It is interesting that he believed he could be harmed. Oh, a friend advised him that this was dangerous. I like (aka dislike) how no elaboration was given on this "friend."

Seeing Datz in the detention center would have been the ideal time to ask how to open his own suitcase. You all suck. I can't even correct your mistakes. I am at your complete mercy.

Yes Apollo, YOU should have asked Datz for his suitcase key. Luckily, Dhurke has a hidden talent as a lockpicker.

A drone with a machine gun CANNOT be legal for a civilian. I'm now talking to a drone. Where did my life go wrong?

I was asked to clean a bathroom with just a broom. How?

Archie is 64. Just how old is his child? Maybe I am a horrible person, but I will laugh if he's like 40 based on his relationship with his mom. He mentioned going back to school, so it's also possible that Archie liked them young.

It did not rain last night, so the raincoat became wet some other way. This is a mountain area, so I wonder if there's a nearby waterfall.

Archie sent an e-mail to a Paw-711 regarding the Founder's Orb.

I guess we are taking Archie's reading glasses for whatever reason. It will probably be absurdly helpful.

A painting outside of a home depicts a person in that green and yellow raincoat near the giant boulder. Oh shit, the artist is Pearl right? Maybe she and not Datz will be the accused. She's 18!? God I feel old.

I guess that area near the boulder is a bus stop as Archie took it to a Mt. Mitama. Is Mitama the new Magatama? They have been using that word like crazy this game. Archie wanted to keep this late-night hike hush-hush.

I assumed it was Edgeworth inside the cave until both Apollo and Dhurke were pushed. I guess Edgeworth could be a dick, but I peg him as more of the hide in the shadows type.

Apollo is still wearing his getup. What is wrong with you? I also refuse to believe he has kept it from getting dirty!

They mention Blackquill having a sword in court. Not only do I not recall that, but he was serving a prison sentence no? What moron lets him have a weapon on him during court?

Okay, I spent ages and ages working on this box puzzle. I saw them rotating the pictures, but for the life of me, I could not do it myself. I thought that I had to interact with the green top or the purple flower insignia, but it was to no avail. After 20-30 minutes of frustration, I saw that it is a known glitch, and that I had to start a new game from episode select. I will start from there tonight.

Now that I got it to not glitch, I still struggled with the puzzle because I kept using the arrows to switch panels not knowing that by using your stylus to manually move the panels, you could go halfway. Things went smooth sailing after that.

I forget, now that I have the Founder's Orb, can Apollo become king? God help Khura'in.

Due to the similarities in pronunciation, I wonder if Paw-711 and Paul are one and the same. If not, it would have to be Paul's benefactor.

Dhurke thinks that someone from the royal family originally had Andis steal the orb. I thought the royal family was revered as religious figures due to their connection to the holy mother, and they also have full access to the founder's orb, so I honestly don't understand why they would need someone to steal it.

How did Datz get released from police custody? I know Trucy brought his passport, but I thought he was arrested for multiple charges and not just unlawful entry into the US.

Paul was the person in the mountains with Apollo and Dhurke. For obvious reasons, he doesn't seem like the person to get himself literally or figuratively dirty.

I had to stifle a laugh upon seeing Dhurke's "serious" face.

Uh, is this going to be a trial for theft? Don't we have an agreement to make this go away? We do? Phew...oh wait, never mind, I guess we are going to trial. This is a case of two people vying for ownership of one item. I do not know how the criminal justice system works in Japan, but this is a civil case, tort I believe. I doubt it, but it would be neat if the trial system changes due to this change. Looking at the court record though, I cannot see how this will not end up changing lanes to a criminal case for Archie's death.

Phoenix will be representing Paul? Wow, I didn't see that one coming. The plaintiff in this case would be Paul, so that makes Phoenix the sort of prosecutor (I know he is still legally a lawyer in this case).

I just noticed Paul's terrible hair. The guys from the serious do not have the greatest track record in the coiffure department.

Does Ema always wear such impractical shoes on the job and in court? I don't recall them doing that closeup with her before.

Ouch, Ema made it perfectly clear who she would save in an either/or situation between Apollo and Phoenix. To be fair, she 100% made the correct choice.

lol, what kind of dumbass would steal artifacts from the very area he lives in and keeps them in a room with a giant window at ground-level that people can see into?

Why don't we ask a member of the Fey clan, like Pearl, to see if those items were actually stolen before trying to push this narrative that Archie is a thief? This can easily be verified, so let's stop these baseless claims.

The police report that immediately predated the trial was filed a full year ago.

PAW-711 wasn't a homonym but simply Paul's initials. 7/11 is also his birthday. Imagine someone being so lame as to naming an online hand after their initials and birthday.

Why would Datz bother showing up here, and how could he, presumably, not escape like he did back in Khura'in?

And the large ground-level window bites Paul in the ass.

Unless they intend to bring in Pearl, who likely would have mentioned that she saw what went down at Archie's, it has to be Archie's son via the drone. Yep. I am impressed with the range of the drone. That's military grade, but it's gun attachment made that obvious.

Oh, it has missiles too? In the previous game, everyone was panicking and up in arms about a timed bomb being in the court, but here we are in the presence of a drone controlled by someone far away from court with an arsenal of weaponry and nobody gives a shit. Wishy-washy priorities man. As an aside, talk about weak missiles and bullets. There's no property damage anywhere!

If my goal this cross-examination is to prove the Defiant Dragons were not at fault (isn't it innocent until proven guilty?), the orb agreement seems like the perfect evidence. Why would they harm the person when they have a binding agreement to receive something as long as the Archie doesn't come to harm? The game would not accept that answer. They wanted me to target a completely different statement and say that the drone should have had eyes and ears on the study.

I may be no expert on psychology, but I feel like Athena's Mood Matrix should not be able to work on a drone, for obvious reasons, and that also likely has a distorted voice. Is it part of Capcom's company rules that every Mood Matrix segment has you point out the lack of surprise to a dead body?

The Widget, that's what the text box suggests the Mood Matrix object is called, is worn as a necklace. How, just how was the drone, which is completely visible mind you, simply take that off Athena's neck? I am less baffled by it taking the judge's gavel. Less than a minute later, the Widget and gavel were back to their owners. What a waste of time, though not like Datz' witness testimony in the third case.

On the second Mood Matrix segment, I got the flames on my first try despite totally forgetting that was how Archie's wife died. It just seemed like the thing to point out at the time.

Oh, Archie's child is a 12 year-old-girl? Didn't Ema specifically say that Archie had a son? Regardless, Archie likes his women young, and the pun for Armie Buff must be army buff. Back to more absurdities, how did she get here so fast if she had not taken a step outside of her room since her mom died? Did they set up a temporary court at the Buff residence?

The drone DID have a voice modulator. I rest my case on the validity of the Mood Matrix!

The Holy Mother allegedly appeared from the burning orb as according to the Dance of Devotion. If the inside of the orb melts, how does it even fill back up again? What is the mystery matter inside? I guess that we have seen the Holy Mother's face now (unless this really is the Crystal of Ami Fey and that the Holy Mother and Ami Fey are two different people). Any practitioners of Khura'inese (is that the religion's name?) that are present in court are now damned for eternity.

I must say, Phoenix has been a massive disappointment this trial. He's mostly been a non-factor.

i thought phoenix was really good during the trial, but i'm disappointed that you haven't seemed to get nearly as excited about this trial as i did. everything about it is sooooo good.

So Athena can't be a hostage, but perhaps Maya is? She finished up her training, so I would have expected she fly home with Phoenix. There's also the possibility of Pearl I guess. I doubt they would just show her for a minute and then that's it. I find it more likely that she will join Phoenix in getting back Maya.

Phoenix was universally derided for making a claim that it has not been established that the orb was in fact the Founder's Orb since the Dance of Devotion claims that power would be bestowed upon the person to uncover its secret. Phoenix was even called crazy by nearly everyone. I am actually appalled that they would call someone crazy over that, especially when it is an excellent point. Let's recap some stuff that has gone down during this trial:
1. We took testimony from a drone piloted by an unhinged 12-year-old girl fitted with military weaponry that on no fewer than five occasions was fired upon the people in the room
2. Said girl magically appeared in court presumably hundreds of miles away
3. We had a 19-year-old girl use a device that claims to understand the discord in person's voice, and that somehow includes a drone with a heavily distorted voice
4. This is a court system that allows anyone who feels like it to move to and walk away from the witness stand
5. This is a court system where no fewer than 25 laws or rules are broken in any given trial
6. We allowed a witness to be carried in via a carriage
7. Two men wanted on charges that would have them extradited and then executed in their home countries showed up to court when they didn't have to

That's just seven things that I thought of at the top of my head. Phoenix's semi-rational claim doesn't even come close to reaching the Top 5 in crazy this trial.

Armie was being wheeled around by possibly Archie's killer. If they are the same person, then Paul must have had an ulterior motive that didn't include killing her. If not, I could see Datz, but even he would have brought that up. Right?

In a long line of things that the player is conveniently not told until the moment it becomes inconvenient, a luminol test was done on the suitcase. It appears to be the murder weapon.

"A vote for Paul is a vote to banish murder forever in Kurain." - Paul
- He really is the MVP of this trial. I don't think that there's a character from this franchise with such a sharp quality split among their investigation and trial versions.

lol, I could have asked the judge to add "Datz is an idiot" to the testimony. If I wasn't eager to get this trial finished, I would have done so just to see where it would go once I pressed it. Too bad I also knew I had to add the testimony about the book since Archie's glasses was the evidence I knew I had to present.

At first, I thought it was a slip of the tongue when Paul said that Datz was a rebel. Then I realized that I had no idea what Archie and Paul discussed during their meetings. Also, Paul is more than capable of doing basic research, and he has a benefactor that likely would tell him.
