That is somewhat concerning, but yeah the cold could be the case. As long as it isn't a bother to you I'd say wait until the cold subsides to say for sure.

Well we do have the legal right to refuse to fill a prescription for any reason. That said, I feel it should only be used if the prescription may harm the patient or there is something "off" such as the prescription we were presented being fake, the patient shopping around, etc.

I know one of my classmates said he is strongly against birth control (he's Catholic) and would not dispense it if he was in such a position. I don't feel like that's fair. He's working in a hospital now though, so I don't think that conflict will arise.

tbh I hope he refuses to dispense it, gets sued, loses and the law is changed or he loses his job. Medicine isn't something you should be allowed to have stupid biases in. I guess Catholic hospitals do worse stuff than that all the time though...

And $19 isn't bad. I think of gambling like you're paying to be entertained as long as you don't go overboard.

Yeah I've heard that before. I suppose that's really dependent on the area, but I assume if he ever has that issue it will be discussed with him before he has to be let go. It's not something I worry about anyhow since I'm comfortable filling it.

I did refuse to fill my first prescription this week though.

why?

It was for an Adderall prescription. It was completely torn in half. Not hanging on by a thread. Completely torn in half. The family that brought in was also very sketchy as well, I wasn't comfortable filling it when they brought it in, so I figured I'd give my manager a call to see what he would do. He suggested I give the doctor a call.

I did so, and she actually answered right away. She shared my sentiments and told me not to have it filled, so I didn't.

Speaking of Adderall, what's the highest dosage you've ever filled or heard of being filled? I'm on 90mg/day and I've often wondered how common or uncommon that was. If I remember correctly, Adderall has somewhat of an effect ceiling around 60mg for therapeutic benefits, but when does it become dangerous? Do you know of any long term dangers of using that high of a dosage?

90 mg a day? Wow, that seems high. I've seen a lot of patients on a combination of the regular and XR versions of Adderall, but I don't think the combination ever got higher than 80 mg/day. I'd say that it gets risky going higher than that because of the ceiling like you mentioned and also because of its highly addicting nature. Have you been on anything else? Because at that point I'd begin considering alternatives if it's not doing enough/anything for you.

Watching, sometimes, but not as much as the average person seems to. Like on football Sundays I usually only have enough in me to watch part of one game, if I even watch any at all. But I do like to play sports, yes. Mainly soft/baseball, lacrosse, badminton.

I can't tolerate methylphenidate or any of its derivatives for some reason. I get really dizzy and my heart rate shoots through the roof before suddenly crashing. Instant release Adderall generally works for me at the dosage I'm at, but keep in mind that I weigh around 250lbs and I've been on stimulants for over 15 years. I was just wondering if there have been any studies on the effects of long-term amphetamine use (not abuse, but regular therapeutic administration). I wish I could get off of it, but the withdrawals are absolutely intolerable for me. Strangely, my withdrawals are more like what someone addicted to benzodiazepines would experience. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

They specifically make vitamins for older men. You probably don't need one at 20 but it couldn't hurt I guess. I'm not a pharmacist though.

You'd be fine with a regular one, but as another poster mentioned at your age you likely don't even need one unless your diet is severely lacking in some way. But generally yes they make specialty formulations for elderly men/women.

Have you tried Strattera? Guanfacine? The latter I've noticed has been getting more popular for some physicians. Also, when attempting to quit, has it just been a straight stop it? Or has there been a taper? If so, how rapid of a taper was it?

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions.

I've tried Strattera and it made me feel dizzy, but didn't do anything for my ADHD. Guanfacine does look interesting, though. I doubt it would work as a monotherapy, but maybe in addition to the Adderall. Does it have the same rebound effects as clonidine?

I've tried tapering and cold turkey, and if I was to quit in the future, I would definitely taper. The problem with tapering is that the cravings become torturous and all I can think about is my next dose. For some strange reason, I don't feel tempted to take more than my max dose, but I get really antsy if I try to go without taking my full dose for the day. But all of that is still way more preferable to the hell of going cold turkey.

Anything is worth a try. And guanfacine can indeed cause some mild rebound, but that's only if it's abruptly stopped. IF it's tapered off it should be fine.

Yeah, absolutely don't cold turkey it. My question is have you just been doing the taper by yourself? Or has your doctor been involved? I'd strongly recommend you get your doctor involved if not.
