I agree with this. Like a buddy of mine is really getting into Survivor and I keep overhyping Vanuatu cause of Chris

Vanuatu is just a really great and underrated season all around. Great final four (Scout was a weak link for sure but Chris/Twila/Eliza more than made up for her), plus other great characters and blindsides. If I had to pick a top five for that season I'd go Eliza > Chris > Twila > Rory > Sarge.

Funny story actually, in one of my many Survivor dreams I was playing on Vanuatu. The final four were myself, Twila, Travis and Sarge. Twila won the F4 immunity and we all voted out Sarge as a jury threat. Then Twila won again at the F3 and she voted out Travis since I had pissed off more people and was less likely to beat her in the finals, but I did anyway.

Yeah. I would say Chris > Eliza = Twila > Rory > Sarge.

I am a fan of a good villain too that is not too obnoxious. So to me Ami, the Ice Queen, is perfect.

Yeah I liked her also. Not really the type of character I usually like but I knew ahead of time how things would play out for her so I could appreciate the story though had I watched live, I would have likely rooted against her.

while i don't think you're necessarily "penalizing" kim/earl/jeremy for being so dominant in their winning seasons, i would argue that simply not having had the "opportunity" to prove their ability to deal with negative circumstances in those seasons should not detract from the quality of their wins.
but like i said earlier, i think you and i place different values on different qualities in winning performances, all of which seems pretty reasonable.

Exhibit A: Hannah from last season had a pretty masterful FTC performance but Adam had already won the game.

Exhibit B: Aubry from Kaoh Rong had a great performance but lost because she turned on a spiteful Debbie

also, chris and vanuatu are both pretty great, but i will side with inviso in arguing for natalie's case over chris in the "upset the major alliance" winners. like i said, it speaks volumes that natalie immediately jumped back into the main alliance, "forgave" them for taking out jeremy, and then worked her way to the top by making all the right moves.

and i would argue the fact that nobody looked at natalie as a threat is more impressive! chris was impressive, but he definitely benefited from the fact that those girls couldn't wait to turn on each other. chris's work in taking out julie/eliza in f5/f4 undoubtedly puts him in the top 10 for me, but if ami's alliance was wiser it shouldn't have had the chance to get to that point

Again, I'm not disparaging any of the winners from 5th-10th. It's just that We never saw them have to overcome difficult odds. The people from 1-4 were able to play strong games from a leadership position AND an underdog position, and none of them were really at fault for ending up in that underdog position to begin with so much as just bad numbers come the merge, or come the swap, or someone else was a big target.

Natalie worked hard to keep her gameplay under wraps though. Like, she kissed Jon's ass right up until he went out of the game. Hell, she pretended to be a confused idiot during the Alec boot, just so no one would get suspicious. She played low-key while pulling strings, right until she needed to emerge to the forefront.

Inviso I think you would approve of my Epic Struggle 1 win. I definitely had the versatility you were talking about as I was on weaker tribes early and had to claw my way into a decent position, whereas my final 2 pick had early on set himself up for the endgame and when it got to the final merge, he essentially coasted and relied on allies, mostly me, to keep him safe when the game shifted to BB format. I knew I had an advantage going into jury speeches because he was sneaky and unapologetic about it whereas I put all my cards on the table and even offered honesty over things I wasn't even called out on, knowing that 2 jurors in particular valued honesty very highly. Win by 1 vote.

(This was a survivor/BB themed competition on another board that started with 100 players)

I have to agree, despite my love and praise of Chris's FTC, he probably still wins even without it given that Sarge, Chad, Eliza and LeAnn were never ever ever going to vote for Twila.

I was just saying that you made a point about Chris' speech, but I was pointing out that Chris/Danni had similar gameplay and that the speech wasn't a huge factor in his win, as are most FTC performances.
