Well I'm pretty sure I was thinking I was picking a different Ys song when I was filling out my favorites bracket. This one's fine, but in the end I don't care much for it. Scrap I/O has a few bumps but mostly hits the right buttons for me, so this was a pretty easy pick.

This particular song is one of the better examples, so I'd still say I like this one for sure, but there's a lot of Ar nosurge songs I don't like at all. The rock/metal sound really doesn't mesh with the music style these games use imo. And it's not like they changed it completely either which might have been fine, but they like try and do the same thing as other Gust games but with frantic guitars and it just sounds weird. As I said though this one does enough good things that I still like it a decent amount, and it's opponent is pretty weak as far as I'm concerned. So easy choice for this round, but I wonder how I'll react if Hidra gets a tougher opponent next round.

Rock/metal is a longstanding AT tradition

EXEC_SPHILIA uses it for example, and that track made a very deep run

Ar Nosurge definitely does some weird stuff with its music though, I'll have to listen more to it to really nail what it is that's off.

Well I admit I've only ever listened to stuff that was nominated in VGMC, but I can only think of two songs from any other Gust game that I thought used rock heavily, whereas I've thought that about almost every Ar Nosurge song that's been nominated.

Pretty sure azuarc prefers not going over 3 matches per day unless there's some extenuating circumstances. If the tie had been in the actual VGMC side, I suspect we'd have VGMC march on with new matches with the tiebreaker taking up the 3rd match slot for the day (and side bracket taking the day off). But since it was in the side portion it's not going to kick a VGMC match out so it just eats up the day for the side bracket.

I've liked End of Battle for years, so it's cool to see it finally getting into a contest. Scrap I/O fairly eh. Movin' Out is the better of the Suguri 2 songs in the contest, but its competition is pretty great, unfortunately. HH has a few parts that feel like letdowns, but it also has amazing sports I love.

This is correct. The contest is two matches per day. I leave room for a third match to take place, but it's optional, and mostly just a placeholder for when there is a tie. Of course, it's a cruel irony in this case that the bonus match IS the tie, but that's going to happen a third of the time.
