I agree, there are a few moments I'd still want to see in full, but for the series in general, the abridged is probably the best way to get one's nostalgia fix for the show.
As for this episode, a bit light on the funny and more a build up to the main attraction, but there's only so much one can do with the source material. Decent episode.
