His best year managing was 2013 because he didn't have to do anything. They just kept scoring runs and the bullpen was easy to use once Boggs got his demotion. It was also good because Mujica was the closer so he actually used his best reliever (Rosenthal) as the any time shooter kind of guy which he has never done sisince

The Rockies are off to a weird start. They're actually second to last in the NL in runs scored per game. They're about in the middle when it comes to giving up runs, but that's mostly thanks to a bullpen that's been lights out. They're 7-4 now, but with a negative run differential. I think I've seen it with three-game series, and maybe two-games but it's probably not as common. I just imagine that it would be optimal to space off-days as evenly as possible, so it's annoying, but maybe it's difficult to coordinate it like that for all 30 teams while ensuring there are still games throughout MLB every day
