200 games is still a lot of time to spend. And you'll probably buy more in that time span.

If you count all the games I obtained through other methods (especially on handhelds), my number is pretty high. There's also the dozens of free PS3 games I got through PS Plus, but I'm almost at the point where I'm calling that old news, just to trim some fat off the backlog.

I'm probably missing at least as many games as I've included, depending on what you think should count. There's so much more that's missing that's out of my possession, between games and systems I used to own, games that are at my parents'/siblings' houses, rented games and games that friends owned and we played extensively. I put some of those in there, but basically just the ones I could think of and deemed significant. I also own a few redundant titles due to compilations/ports/remakes, but I haven't listed all of those cases.

I just realized what the poll was today and was amused by how relevant it is to this conversation

Very happy that my favorite team ever, the Maple Leafs, who I have been cheering for my whole life, won last night.

The Sharks game is a slaughter and I like it.

The Oilers have been salty and they keep committing more penalties since they know they can't come back from a 6 goal deficit. I felt like the entire 2nd period was a power play for the Sharks.

Nolan Arenado. He's good

I wonder if he'll keep improving on his MVP finishes. 8th two years ago and 5th last year. He's certainly capable of it. I really like him and Goldschmidt in the NL West.

I wonder if he'll hit 40 dingers again. He's on pace for it, but that doesn't really mean anything this early in the season. But three years in a row is a pretty rare feat in this day and age. I bet in peak steroid era there were probably like 20 guys who did it

Mike Leake is going to win the cy young

Eric Thames had been playing overseas since 2013 or so and now he's leading in all the triple crown categories I think. He's hitting .426 with 7 bombs which I assume are both league leading numbers. He looks like a 90s era slugger

Has there been a previous example of guys who go overseas and came back and had a great season? I know people like Manny have played there that but that's more of an end-of-career thing. It would be interesting if that became a new trend, instead of toiling away in the minors. It probably pays better, too. I think that NBA players generally prefer to go to overseas leagues than the D-league, although I can't think of any notable examples right now of guys who came back and were awesome in the NBA

I remember Eric Thames being insignificant during his first run in MLB. I never would have expected him to have a career turnaround.

Given the roller coaster of life he had. I understand why he may not want to spend the next 60 plus years in prison. But he deserves everything that comes to him.

Woah, my heart dropped when I read your post that he died. I really didn't expect to read something so serious. On one hand, I feel kind of sad that it came down to this, and the other hand wants to have no sympathy for a guy who murdered a person.

RE Aaron Hernandez: It's sad that we have this culture in America where we love capital punishment, but as soon as a prisoner wants to kill himself everyone's all "He should have to rot in there for decades!" Obviously facilitating suicide of prisoners would raise a different set of ethical issues, but it's not like I can really blame somebody on a life sentence for wanting to end their life. I guess some people believe whatever punishment the prisoner doesn't want is the best one - no wonder our prison system is so poor at reforming people

The prison-industrial complex in the US is truly repugnant and it basically condones suicide among other horrible things.

I don't think the prison system does anything to reform people. It's basically just a really long "time out" and probably makes them behave even more violently when you think about the things they have to do to survive in prison.

I was thinking about this yesterday when I was reading about a local guy at my nearest Costco. He stole a car in the parking lot and the cops pulled up behind him and so he started shooting at them. After he was identified, it turns out he just got out of prison 6 days ago.
