i feel like this was a thing people did up until maybe the 90s. my family usually had a slice of white bread with butter on it as a side for dinner and i think other people did it too.

I like to have buttered bread as a side with soup. It's usually home made bread, though.

Yeah we used to eat like that...how dumb lol unless it's french bread or something. We just did it with plain white bread. Glad that's over.
