I think the only time I heard it mentioned in the last several years was when Miley Cyrus danced at one of their award shows. As cable networks become more insular and niche over time, they have to stake a claim at a target demographic, and that's where MTV went. Mike Judge talked about this in an interview after the Beavis & Butthead revival; their ratings were second only to Jersey Shore, but because most of those viewers were male, the show was cancelled. Nothing wrong with that, as entertainment options continue to grow, networks and other content providers have continued to narrow their focus on one or two target demographics.
