25 y/o Liberal, Dyne Suh from Riverside, California was left stranded and in TEARS after she was DENIED by an Airbnb Trump Supporter during a snowstorm because the woman didn't like ASIANS!!

She was traveling with friends on a ski trip near Big Bear Lake on President's Day weekend when they were suddenly without housing on February 18th

The law student said her reversation was canceled just 3 MINUTES before they were to arrive when the host sent her a text that said "I wouldn't rent to you if you were the last person on Earth. One word says it all Asian. Want something for nothing"

That Airbnb B**** has sinnce been BANNED for her "abhorrent and unacceptable behaviour"

Dyne has been living in America since she was 3 years old and said the whole thing was sparked after she asked if she could add 2 puppies and 2 friends for the reservation and the woman agreed to the new arrangement but then right before they arrived, it turned ugly.

The woman named "Tami" said "If you think 4 people and 2 dogs are getting a room for $50 a night on Big Bear mountain during the busiest weekend of the year..you are insanely high"

Dyne countered stating she had proof that she agreed and that she would report her to the company to have her removed..then Tami said "Go ahead. It's why we have Trump. He would not allow a country to be told what to do by foreigners. You are a con artist"

Dyne was immediately brought to tears and said "It stings that after living in the US for over 23 years, this is what happens. No matter if i follow the law, if i'm kind to people, no matter how well i treat others, it doesn't matter. If you're Asian, you're less than human and people can treat you like trash"

Fortunately after 2 hours, they found lodging and when Airbnb found out, they fully reimbursed her and the hotel they stayed at and said "Airbnb does not condon discrimination in any way. We have worked to provide guest with our full support. In line with our non-discrimination policy, this has been permanently removed from the Airbnb platform"

NBC reached out to Tami but all she said was "No comment".

Like how does Airbnb work? I'm guessing Tami agreed to the $50 a night. Is it like a house that she rents out, or is it like a service where you share the place with other people who live there? If it's the latter, there's kind of a limit to how much she can realistically expect someone to pay. Regardless, if Tami agreed to that price, it doesn't matter if it was too cheap. Maybe she was high when she agreed to let someone stay there for $50 a night.

And "no comment" means "yeah, that's what I did."

Like how does Airbnb work?

I've only used it once for a trip in Las Vegas. It is almost no different from reserving a motel/hotel room except there's no room service. You make a request to the host for X days and the host can choose to accept you or not. Most hosts have rules in-place (i.e. don't disturb the neighbors, no parties, etc) and can put a limit on the number of guests. The house that we stayed at had no limit on guests whereas other houses that the host owned had a limit and would charge extra per guest. The nice thing about Airbnb was how much cheaper it was compared to the motel/hotels in Las Vegas during CES.

That's where I'm stump. The host should have made it known beforehand whether or not there's a limit on guests/pets and the cost to go beyond that limit. At the same time maybe Suh should have asked the host much sooner.

That's not her obligation. If the host agreed to a price then it's a contract unless it was agreed to under false pretenses.

Yer got a point there. Though honestly I am not sure how Airbnb hosts can enforce their guest limitation rules. Suh could very well have said nothing to Tami and the host would be none the wiser. When I booked a house via Airbnb in Las Vegas, the host was actually in Las Vegas so could check up on us.

My friends and I have booked two beds rooms before despite there being 5-6 of us. We just share the beds and sleep on the floor. I think in most cases motels/hotels will not allow that and if caught we might be forced out or forced to book another room.

Contracts work both ways. If you're found in violation by sneaking in extra guests then the proprietor can seek damages. And I think a host would absolutely have a case in assuming that posted rates are per person or maybe for a couple. Even if you never said you weren't bringing 5 people if they thought otherwise you'd be the one who had to prove why that seemed like a sensible number of people.

It's generally a harmless crime though. I had a friend sneak me into a hostel in Japan once. I showed up right near when their check-in was closing and they wouldn't rent me a bed because I didn't have a reservation. They had tons of open beds so my friend just brought me in and I bounced at like 6am.

Touche and it seemed that's what Tami may have tried to do by saying $50 a night isn't enough but opened her mouth a bit too much. Given how frugal some Asians are, I can see how the negative stereotype view on some Asians would lead some into believing we're just trying to cheat the system.
