Instagram users have accused Kelly Clarkson of CHILD ABUSE because she gave heeer 2 y/o daughter NUTELLA!!

The 34 y/o American Idol Winner gave River Rose a taste of hazelnut-chocolate spread for the first time and posted it on instagram as the toddler was seen taking a bite out of the Nutella-smeared pece of bread

Kelly says "River, do you like Nutella?" and she sais "Yeah" and then lets loose a happy dance as she continues eating it..

The video was seen more than 3 million times and set off controversy among social media as commentors scolded kelly for giving her the treat and as one said "Nutella is PACKED with sugars. Don't make your kids blow up"

Another said Nutella is hella bad for you"

It ranges from condescending to cruel and the most vicious came from some who said it was CHILD ABUSE as others said Nutella had been confirmed to give CANCER

A controversial report said the palm oil in Nutella could be carcinogenic as there is a risk if it's heated above 392F which isn't the case for nutella but it's uncertain if it's true for lower temperatures

Jaclyn London defends eating it as she says no single food product can increase your risk of cancer as indulgent foods together with family can be a part of a healthy diet but advises eating it in moderation since it has sugar

This is an example of the stupidity that leads to semantic satiation, or simply put, using a word/phrase so much (especially incorrectly) that it loses its meaning and becomes worthless. In this case, it's child abuse, this is absolutely not child abuse, yet if the phrase is used sufficiently (especially out of context) it will no longer carry any weight, and that's really bad as it's an important phrase that should be used to alert people of real dangers. It's similar to how a lot of (vocal but stupid, not all of them) liberals use the word racist, yeah, some of the people they call that are doing something wrong, and yeah, there are some racists out there, but they yell the word so much that it has no weight anymore, even when it matters.

It's common knowledge that Nutella is unhealthy af, meaning it's bad to some extent, just not to the point where I would consider it child abuse. Things such as drugging or physically abusing children, on the other hand, are definitely child abuse.

No, it's up the the journalists reporting this as a controversy. A handful of people complaining on Twitter is not a controversy, until a bored journalist decides to make it one.

I respectfully disagree. The media can push that angle, but if the herpaderps don't get their herps in a derp, then there is no controversy. That's not to say journalists have no role or responsibility in the matter, but it's not something in their direct control either - they can call it a controversy but that doesn't make it one.
