I would love one of those... provided it was 4x4. 2wd trucks are pointless here.

The work is easy and cheap to do...

Bodywork is the most expensive thing, if you cant do it yourself. Doing it yourself it would probably cost $100 or $200.

The wipers need a new switch most likely. No more than $50.

Gauge is either the needle sticking (take apart cluster and fix... no cost), or the sender in the tank. That might be $50.

Yeah my former roommate is a mechanic and I ran it by him and he said it looks like a great deal and I should go for it. I'm trying to.

RWD is fine. You just learn to drive a little different with RWD.. Ford has super cheap parts in general and are super common so if you need a repair it's usually as simple as it gets for a vehicle.

It's a shame vehicles of that age around here would just be unidentifiable rust panels by now. lol

Oh I see. I'd say go for it man. That thing will probably be fun to drive a it's a manual. Great on gas, and a long bed to boot.

I just sold my '97 ranger last year. Mine was an extended cab 4x4 though.

Yeah I think this truck is perfect for me. I just need to actually, y'know, get the fuckin thing. I like the long bed but I'm glad it's a short cab, so the thing isn't a million feet long. I just want it dammit

Manual 4cyl Rangers are fun af. Too bad they're extremely rare in the extended cab version with 4x4

The 3.0l 6cyl has the sameish power as the 4cyl and same fuel economy as the 4.0l. I think it's got the perfect power in 4x4 in snow and off-road

4.0l is a blast with the most power. Post 2001 (I think), they redid the engine and have it a lot more umph but at the cost of more expensive repairs. Still plenty reliable though.

I personally prefer the 4cyl extended cab 4x4ost, albeit rare. A 4.0 single cab too; it'll eat tires if you let it. Try to get the manuals for more power and mpg

I inherited a 3.0l ext cab myself though as free is g8. I also have a 3.0l with 324,000 miles, but it just sits. Still runs fine, leaks oil though.
