And it's mostly a pretty good place and my personal experience has been met with positive feedback but sometimes some of these legal guys come off rude as fuck. It looks like some of these dudes get off telling people they shit out of luck.

Well yeah, it is reddit aka a cesspool

mine has been bad. they convinced me my roommates had ground to sue me if i tried to leave, and said "shouldn't have signed a lease if you couldn't keep it". and then they downvoted a person who tried to talk some sense into them saying they were wrong.

I mean for being legal professionals you'd at least show some ethicalness in what information you're giving but sometimes dudes be like "naw you fucked up and it's not their fault that it happened".

they were doing the equivilant of going up to a burn victim and saying "tsk tsk, should have better protected yourself from fire. dont you know you can get burned" as they melt away.

I like that sub. For the most part they don't screw around with jokes or anecdotal evidence. It's a no-nonsense "here's where you stand legally." If someone leaves out part of a story, because let's face it we are only getting one side, it isn't their fault there.

I mean this kind just confirms that a lot of Internet people don't genuinely want to help you with their knowledge but rather they use it to make people feel inferior.

i dunno, i did my best to word it correctly with all the information. they just told me to deal with it and that im fucked.

the question i was asking was: if, on a month to month lease, in california, i wanted to leave, did i need everyone's permission to do so so long as i followed the other laws regarding termination of leases.

the answer was no, i dont. but they were so convinced that joint and several liability meant that since 3 people didn't want to end the lease, i couldn't end the lease, and if i tried, they'd all sue me for lost rent if i left. they told me that if they wanted to, they could hold me there for the rest of my life and i couldn't do anything i wanted. they told me too bad, dont sign leases like that.

turns out no. one user pointed out a case where that happened and the courts said if one person wants to end the lease, they can. but they downvoted him into oblivion because they didn't want to be wrong. it was crazy.

and he was right. i ended the lease and that was that. i even got my full deposit back. no one sued me or anything.......YET

One thing I noticed about some legal professionals there is that they demand you to be the better person and deal/work/suffer through the situation instead of taking legal actions. However when you grind through the problem however way(legally) you can then they all come out of the woodwork to tell you how unethical and horrible person you are. It's a place where people construe out to be a villain. If it happens to me once like that on there then I am out of that place.
