Wish I had known about stealing from the guards. I used bio and slow on everyone. Then seymour was like 3800 life and I used Tidus' overdrive which hit for 4k. To kill him in phase 1. Crushed phase 2 and 3 easily.

Switching equipment is faster than defending. You can switch to something the character is already using.

Defending cant possibly be slower. Its one button compared to going into a menu. 1 button press to at least 3

By faster, I mean ATB faster (or whatever the terminology for this game would be), not real time. If you get efficient at it there is not much difference, though.

Also, there are maybe like 4 total Fortune Spheres that don't come from farming high level optional content. You can get Teleport Spheres more easily than Fortune Spheres.

There isn't bound to be. I looked up the locations of the only 4 in the game and it's all optional stuff you can easily miss.

I don't know what your playing habits are but it's possible you won't ever find one.

Well I did say I don't know your playing habits. If you do your research or have a completionist attitude (which evidently you kinda do) then the answer is you'd probably find one.

Overdrives, Aeons, and Items don't require touching the sphere grid at all. Just with those you can beat the game.

Items through Use and especially Mix are insanely powerful in this game. The hardest fight in a basic NSG challenge, or really any challenge that doesn't restrict either of those, is Sinspawn Gui (before teaming up with Seymour) simply because you don't have Rikku yet.

And the closest Fortune Sphere you'll almost certainly miss without a guide, the rest are really far off.
