Looks like they LIED.

Although it may be blocked off for plot reasons that I don't know. I've just been exploring and doing shrines and no story really. Haven't gotten any cutscenes since the King of Hyrule.

Did you reach the border of the map? That's the only place where you'd see that message. Nothing's blocked off by plot after the Great Plateau.

I was exploring all the peaks of the Gerudo mountains and finding insane zebra lynels that just explode in my face and kill me.



I was trying to climb to the top of Mount Agaat after finishing that shrine at the base. It looks like all of that area is not off the map, it even has a name, and I'm like huge area up there probably some good stuff or korok shits to get. Even if it was stuff I couldn't get I'd at least mark it for later.

But I'm 99% sure it's plot raisins I was blocked off from going there. It's most likely Gerudo vs Yiga clan related.

Strange that it's blocked off if it's within the map, but I don't think there's anything there. You can go to the Yiga hideout without being blocked off, but it's not there on the mountain.

No something like this.



An unnamed mountain at the edge makes it clear to me there's nothing there. But a named mountain at the edge does. I don't need a sign but common sense like the vast expanse of sea or desert at the edge that also have no names or features to them is good enough. Look at the Gerudo desert, shit looks like it goes on forever and there's no name near that edge. Or look at the eastern ocean/sea no names or features anywhere near the edge. Makes it clear to me you can't really go here.

But put a god damned huge ass mountain and name it, you damn well sure I'm gonna try climbing that shit and getting pissed off when I can't conquer it.

Yeah oddly, the bottom left was the first border I reached in BotW as well. I was disappointed, but I knew it had to end somewhere. Other borders usually have a wind to prevent you from flying there or a giant void. For whatever reason, that mountain is one of the few super easy to reach and not climbable

Seems like I'm not the only one. Oh well I was just curious to see how many came upon the mountain, there were cool rhinoceros there though that I had never seen. I also didn't want to google it and spoil myself, but looks like a lot of other people were upset about a named mountain in a game about exploration, that usually places korok shits on the tops of mountains.

It was the first time I reach the edge of the map too, and I was slightly annoyed it wasn't actually right at the edge

Stamina >>> hearts once have ~8 hearts. Plus the guy is blatantly doing a 3 heart run

The rest of the western half of the map is closed off by a massive valley you can't cross. That valley is literally just past the named mountain you can't climb. It's the only named area in the game you can't access, and it's not even at the actual edge of the map, just beside it.

I like running a lot, but I realized shield surfing is so much more. Horses don't help you climb much either nor can you bring them to peaks. But having 3 stamina helped me reach places or made me much more comfortable in climbing. Not to mention just being able to jump up 100 feet without a care for stamina is nice. I do have 2 pieces of climbing gear, but it doesn't feel like it helps with jump scaling a mountain. More time to slow down and get criticals, more gliding time, more swimming time, it's all more useful really. More useful than hearts at the start tbh. Granted I can't take on zebra lynels, yet, but I like thinking my link is super awesome and never gets hit too.

But I've been taking on major test shrines and the hearts have been fine, not to mention the temporary heart system with this much exploration and cooking (and they fucking want you to cook, I've seen you eventide isle), you really should never want for more hearts over stamina. Temporary stamina is useful to get through certain parts, but is not as useful as temporary hearts. Real stamina>temp stamina>real hearts=temp hearts is how I prioritize it. And temporary hearts are basically real hearts anyway at least at the start is how I've been playing it. Cooking seems a bit tedious when you have a bunch so I just cook all the temp hearts.

I'll start building hearts though once I find these freaking shrines, but I've been holding back from plot stuff and exploring much of the north. I think I've found 42 shrines in the southern half of the map. But that sonar for shrines is kind of crappy. I've usually seen them before it beeps and marked them with the exception to some being hidden under ice, but even that one was obvious and visible. It feels like I have to be pretty close by for it to sound and exploring wise I think I've taken a decent approach to finding them.

I haven't even visited the central tower in hyrule yet, if you want to know the amount of progress I've made. Got into Gerudo town, know where the zora town is, kakariko and hatenko research.

No. You're looking at the middle of a massive snowstorm that kicks up as you approach the edge of the map, reducing visibility to basically zero as Link attempts to climb a cliff face.

That too, just because I got shorts on I have a flame spear and a doublet which negates the cold...barely? I don't know if there's any colder than that though. I was at the peak of lanaryu mountain with the corrupted dragon so I don't think there is anymore cold. But don't tell me, let me believe. I'm pretty sure there's colder if I went super far north into the map, if there is an arctic.

She didn't really insult you. She made an observation.

That said, you have a point about the mountain shouldn't've been named if it was the edge of the map. However, who knows. They might put the DLC expansion area over there, hence why it was named.
