I remember in season 6 of Dexter there was a new guy at Miami Metro. A new analyst named Louis. Louis is around most of the season and is shown repeatedly to be fascinated with Dexter, and to a point, rather obsessed. At the end of the season, we find out he is in possession of the prosthetic limb that once belonged to Brian Moser (Dexter's brother). Come season 7, this arc is quickly dropped, and the character is killed off rather unceremoniously early on.

If you're a 24 fan there's a few

- In season 7 we discover that a group of powerful corporations and private military companies have collaborated to launch terror attacks on the US and frame Muslim extremist groups. They'd then use the chaos and dysfunction to grab more power and influence in the government for themselves. One of the people involved in this conspiracy admits at the time of the season that in addition to the terror threat happening that day they also intended for "multiple attacks early next year". While one of the main people involved in the conspiracy is captured, it's stated repeatedly that for security, none of them knew each other by name. At the time of this season, the writers/showrunners stated that Season 8 would take place "very shortly" after the season 7 finale. Season 8 ended up taking place 4 years later, and this particular plot and conspiracy is never acknowledged again.

- In the latest incarnation of the show, 24: Legacy, a character named Tony Almeida, who was a major character in the original series, was brought back. Prior to Legacy the last we saw of Tony was the epilogue of Season 9, where he was in a federal prison, and we discover a shadowy individual or group is trying to set him free. Come the time of Legacy, his character's prior history is never addressed, nor is it ever elaborated on who sprung him from prison or why.

- In Mass Effect 2 a few characters make odd comments on dark energy, and the Quarian plot in particular deals with this, as dark energy has made a star age to a red giant rapidly. This was intended to foreshadow the original ending of the series, but was dropped mostly by the time ME3 started production.
