I guess I'll start with the good:

-Dungeons are a HUGE improvement from 3 & 4. idk if I can go back to replaying those old dungeons anymore, 5's dungeon design just blows it out of the water
-Ditto for the style! 3 & 4 had style, but 5 literally cranked it up to 11 on EVERYTHING and it looks amazing. I legit almost orgasmed from seeing the pause menu for the first time >_>
-The music is still fantastic. Definitely love some of the tracks like Last Surprise, Beneath the Mask and Rivers in the Desert
-All the improvements made to the battle system work well and are hella fun to use
-Tokyo is a great hub. So many activities to do and stuff to see. It puts 3 and 4 to shame there too.
-There's finally a solid incentive to do non-party s links since they all give perks now. It was a nice addition.
-Characterization is still strong
-The waifus are pretty strong >_> Sadayo, Ann, and Makoto are all top-tier waifus
-Overall I think they did the Thief theme really well. Most of the dungeons are modeled after palace thief heists would take place in. It's really charming.
-Ann's boobs are big.

Bad:
-There's a real lack of light-hearted moments >_> There are a few like the buffet and Operation Maidwatch, but most of the others fell flat. The beach, Firework Festival, and Hawaii were pretty lame. Persona 4 and maybe even Persona 3 had more fun moments between the party than this game.
-Piggybacking off the last point. The party just doesn't feel as close as 4's did. They have their moments and it's closer than 3's, but they still don't get that much bonding together as a group.
-Haru isn't really fleshed out that much in the main story. She basically joins with 80% through the game and just feels like an outsider compared to the rest of the cast, mostly because she just didn't get enough time to jel with everyone else.
-That "Go the fuck to bed" meme by Morgana is real >_> They railroad you WAAAAY too much between dungeon deadlines. Honestly, they should've given you more free nights and maybe slightly bumped up all the requirements for s links/stats to compensate. Morgana telling you to go the fuck to sleep every night gets really annoying and gives me a feeling of a lack of agency.
-The ending portion of the game really dragged on >_> After Palace 7, it felt like the game had a climax, then kind of kept going for an hour before introducing something else and building up another climax. I had fun, but my balls were blue and I was waiting for the release longer than I should've.
-The overall pacing is wonky sometimes. It doesn't feel smooth overall.

Was it worth the 9 year wait? Nah >_> Is it better than P3 or P4? idk yet. I feel like I need to digest the game for a few weeks, but right now I'm slightly leaning towards P4G being a little better as an overall smoother package.

But in the end, this is still a solid-ass Persona game and really great. I had a blast playing it for 100 hours. It's a fantastic 9/10 game and I recommend it to newbies and veterans alike!

It makes sense. There's a difference between something being good and something being worth a fucking decade wait good.

I'm enjoying it more than P4G, but you're right about the closeness of the group. P4G had 3 of your teammates in the same class and the rest were in the same school. Plus, your friends would walk with to class often so it felt like you had more time to bond.

Walking to class with friends > text messaging.

Honestly, the text messaging thing was really cool. The problem is they way overdid how many fucking messages you got on a daily basis, mostly recapping the same shit nightly for like 2 weeks straight.

I was okay with this cuz it was less anime tropes to put up with. "Drunk off the atmosphere xD" and Operation Babehunt were all cringey as fuck. <__>

My only beef with Morgana was around the time Haru joins.

He spends the whole game shitting on Ryuji, and then when Ryuji finally fires back he runs off for a fucking week acting like a little pussy.

After that though its all good, and his "Lets not do this today" is no more railroady than protag thinking to himself "Im tired I should sleep even though only thing I did today was buy a burger".

P4 was focusing on the togetherness because of the whole small town theme it had going on. I personally don't care for the Scooby-Doo vibe and like the big city solidarity better >_> I agree though that the beach, fireworks and school trip could have been more memorable.

The beach trip was pretty good in P5 imo.

But man was the Hawaii trip a let down. Holy shit, nothing happened and everyone just wanted to talk about the Phantom Thieves instead of chillax.

Eh, I liked the ones in P3 and P4 better >_>

P3 was: guys oogle girls' swimsuits, hit on girls (with dialogue), watch Junpei get the shit kicked out of him by everyone, and meet Aigis
P4G was: guy oogle girls' swimsuits, everyone swims and Kanji gets naked and has to cover up with seaweed and freaks out everyone lol
P5 was: guys oogle girls' swimsuits, hit on girls (without dialogue) and Yusuke buys lobsters for some reason.

It just felt flat compared to the other 2. The training week for Futaba before the beach was pretty fun though.

I got the game on the day after it was released.

I'm still on palace number 2.

Me of 9 years ago would be so much farther into the game by now, but such is work/social life/relationships.

I do wish this intro was shorter >_> P3 was relatively short and got you going in an hourish. P4 was like 3 hours, and now P5 is like 5 hours.

inb4 p6 has a 7 hour intro

My sister got to 4/18, which is basically the end of the intro, in about an hour and a half, but she reads fast and doesn't wait for dialogue to finish like I do. Took me about five hours to get through.

How does everyone else play it?
