**I work at a banquet hall**

Apparently one of the dumbass high schoolers that work there got caught drinking beers last night outside while on break. Because of this, my boss said nobody is allowed outside at all.

I dont give a fuck and will continue to go outside for my smoke breaks. This jackass expects me to go 6-10 hours without a smoke break? This could lead to an interesting encounter if my boss catches me.

"smoke break", the term you used in the title of this topic, is a term that refers specifically to small, minor breaks for the consumption of nicotine.

It doesn't refer to any break you have that you might decide to light it up 420 in.

Wait, nobody can go outside at all? That's stupid, regardless of the smoking policy. Your break is your break, you should be allowed to spend it wherever you want, as long as you're back when you're supposed to be back. At least, that's how my job does it. Obviously, drinking beers is not acceptable on break, and we could argue whether or not you should be allowed to smoke, either, but to not go outside at all is just dumb.

Technically he's within his rights to do so. At my work company policy states that your not allowed to leave the building on your paid 15 minute breaks but you may do so on your unpaid meal break. But the managers don't enforce this rule thankfully as we're all smokers

Well I work in a retail store, as soon as you step out the doors your no longer on company grounds. Technically we could get in trouble but no one enforces it. TC boss does sound like a tyrant though

If the topic title said "My boss banned everyone from leaving the building during breaks" and clarified the reason for it in the OP then you'd have less confusion
