about to do a "practice shift" at a restaurant tomorrow

got a recommendation through a friend, who regularly pulls in $100+ a night in just tip, in addition to the $13/hour minimum wage we get here in san fran

really need this job and really don't wanna mess up

but yeah, how much do you make through just your tips? and what's the most you've ever made in a single shift?

I'm not sure about America... But don't tips just go to the restaurant and not (fully at least) to the waiter?

I know that's how Australia works (or tips are just flat out not accepted).

there's no set system on how tips are divvied up

it's completely dependent on the restaurant

for example, another friend of mine used to take home 100% of the tip she made

Used to work in a hotels restaurant.

We had to pool them so those good for nothing kitchen staff get a 40% cut (which probably isn't true because our sleezebag supervisors were cheating on the tips, was blatantly obvious once I went on the guy's good side and my tips were big as hell while the kitchen cleaner got like 10 bucks in 1 month).

Got like 300s because old british people are cheap, prolly 500s if it were not divided/cheated on.
