Wait, there was more after Roman staggered off? I thought it had ended since it went to advert so closed out the network

Braun did the "I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU YET" and charged Roman by the ambulance. Roman dodged, Strowman broke the door off and flew into some boxes. Got back up and Roman slammed the other ambulance door on him a few times. Strowman ran off and Roman stood tall with blood coming out of his mouth. F*** you Vince.

Has anyone else besides Hassan ever work died?

okay, so here's what i've got as the Sheamus/Cesaro lore. of all people, i think lopen will probably appreciate this the most.

Sheamus was frustrated as a heel who just couldn't get anywhere. even with a faction, he just wasn't relevant enough.
Cesaro meanwhile frustrated as a face who just couldn't quite win the big one.

eventually the two fought - again - only this time Cesaro was winning, not Sheamus. unable to accept this, Sheamus constantly interfered and got involved with Sheamus' matches, eventually leading to a blood feud to be decided in a best of seven.

this series went with Sheamus taking the first 3 after attacking and injuring Cesaro and Cesaro then making a big comeback to win 3 straight. their final match ended in a draw, promptly leaving Foley to decide that they should be a tag team, together.

as a tag team they had issue. Sheamus was the more evil one, Cesaro the more heroic. despite this, they managed to win some matches, even becoming #1 contenders. this was a constant contrast between them that showed as they were winning: Cesaro and the faces would make fun of Sheamus or keep distance with him, who was never truly "one of them." a big example of this can be seen with The New Day.

but Sheamus continued biding his time. the two continued to work together, respecting one another, and finally won the tag belts. they continue, occasionally getting off the same page, but still on good enough terms to win... until the Hardys surprise at WM. Cesaro, still a respectful man, shakes their hands with Sheamus too. they keep doing this for weeks, eventually getting their rematch at the next PPV.

but they lose.
they act respectfully again. after all, they are a team of good guys, or at least, with one good guy and another who respects that.

...but the good guy in Cesaro is tired. they should've won. after months of fighting each other, fighting with each other, Cesaro realizes the ultimate truth: Sheamus was right all along. and now, like a father looking at his son, Sheamus is proud of his tag partner realizing the truth. at last, they've finally reached a level where they can be a true tag team.

i really want them to get the tag belts back and for this friendship turned brotherhood to continue.

Thinking about it some more, the reason Raw PPVs tend to fail comes down to overthinking their booking so much.

Both Neville/Aries and Hardyz/Cesaro&Sheamus were perfect. They wanted to extend feuds, but did them while providing clear motivation to the next arc. You could say Rollins/Joe, but that was a case where any result (barring interference) would have worked.

But other matches were just overbooked, the wrong person won, or they didn't stop when it made sense.

Jericho/Owens: Thanks for giving SD a free main event on Tuesday.
Bayley/Bliss: Hot potato. Hot potato. Hot potato. Hot potato.
Wyatt/Orton: Once again, you helped SD guys get over, and they weren't even participants.
Reigns/Strowman: Just stop the footage at the end of the match or post match beatdown.

The fact that Raw writers just can't help themselves makes me hate it so much more. Just tweak these scenarios, and the PPV would have made sense. Build towards Extreme Rules. That's fine. But logic seems lost on them given, "DUR 50/50 booking WWE BRANDING > INDIVIDUAL STARS!" Smackdown is at least allowed to color outside the box every once in a while.

I don't think Bayley/Bliss was wrong. They don't seem to want to have Sasha just straight up turn on Bayley, so they need a heel champ to do it. If they're smart (IF), they'll have Sasha butt into it and insert herself into Bayley's rematch again, have Bayley finally get upset, and then Sasha turns. Or just have Sasha have no interest in facing Bayley now that she no longer has the title.

You can do all this without having Bayley lose. But WWE gets so dead set on saving a match for a certain time, they forget that the steps to get there don't need to be convoluted messes. "You know all that stuff about Charlotte's huge winning streak? Let's let Bayley take care of that." Ok, so you'll have Bayley survive Alexa, Nia, and then get turned on when Sasha's gets jealous? "FUCK NO! We'll trade wins back and forth on TV until we do the turn everyone sees coming in preparation for the HISTORIC Sasha/Bayley match we can only have on this day and this time."

I hate being THIS cynical, but if last year is any indication, they might put Sasha/Bayley on in July just to pop a rating.

Yeah Sheamus and Cesaro reaching peak power with the turn would make a lot of sense. And they probably will, actually, as I imagine they'll beat the Hardyz sooner rather than later (I really feel like they should beat them in their next title match for maximum impact of the guys really really being on the same page) at which point they can proceed to run wild over the division being two bruisers who are done playing nice.

I feel like they've been pretty good at the storytelling with the two so I could see this happening. If they go nuts with an assault after winning it's a good way to break Matt Hardy too assuming this has any chance of happening. Like you put the Hardyz on the shelf for a bit while you establish Sheamus and Cesaro as dominant, then come back broken-- I could see heel Sheamus and Cesaro being a pretty good foil for that act actually.

It could be the best tag feud in like 10 years. But I don't wanna get my hopes up.

That's more or less what Wang was saying and I think it makes sense.

You have the two being teammates that don't get along -> they get along as faces -> they get along as heels. But the subtext is that you could maybe say Sheamus was faking being a face to try and make the team work, but now Cesaro isn't faking and has just seen the light that the nice guys finish last, so they should be working at peak effectiveness right now.

I guess it's supported by a promo they cut on talking Raw as well but I didn't watch that.

I'd like someone who liked it to explain what specifically about it was enjoyable.

As someone who did not like it, I found that there was really no story to the match, it presented nothing unique to Wyatt's character, it explored no new ground, and quite honestly felt like a rushed, uninventive result of a creative team with no ideas left.

They framed the match so the pre-taped portion didn't actually lead to a direct finish. If they had changed it to be something like, "the first person to leave the house/rides away wins," I doubt it would have come across as dumb. I mean, we knew it was meant to be schlocky horror BS. But they took it somewhat seriously. They just didn't explore as much as they could have. The time they spent back in the ring could have been used fighting in a basement level or using more weapons or environmental hazards. One thing WWE lacks these days (among many other problems) is creativity in weapon types.

I would have liked something where Wyatt holds Orton's head under the sink as water fills up and just completely chokes him out/feigns drowning, leading to the fridge spot.

Man, Brian went off on Sheamus and called him an absolutely terrible worker. He says that he is entirely too clumsy and rough and there's no excuse for him knocking out Jeff Hardy's tooth there and for busting Matt open with another kick. He also said that he's always been clumsy and reckless, and that he would release him. He mentioned that he kicked Daniel Bryan in the head and that was the one that ended his career too.

I'm kind of inclined to agree. The dude was all over the place last night and probably needs to get rid of that damn Brogue Kick because he can't be trusted to not seriously hurt people with it.

Well, it's hard to say Rock.

I'm sure he's hurt people many, many times but usually it's not so bad. With the ways he's kicked Enzo Amore, I'm sure he's had some kind of minor concussion as a result.

Just this time around we see Jeff without a tooth and Matt bleeding from the head right after Sheamus kicks both of them.
