Say I download something to my laptop, if I want to get it on a desktop can I redownload it with no issue as long as I sign in to my account or do you gotta commit to one machine when you buy a game?

I've never been an avid steam user but I got a few old games downloaded to my laptop now but I plan to build my own pc eventually. Can I simply download them onto my new system or are they stuck on my laptop?

Yeah you just log in from the second computer and reinstall the game. Some games have cloud sync enabled as well.

Yep just open up steam on both, turn the monitors so that they face right up against each other, and press enter
