Prozac is fluoxetine. Fluvoxamine is Luvox. Though they're both SSRIs.

When you go to pick up your prescription, assuming you live in the US, you will be offered counseling from a pharmacist (technically it's supposed to be mandatory but you'll often see it more as a suggestion). He or she will go over side effects and details you need to know about taking the medication, and have a detailed reference guide available that lists exactly how common side effects were in studies. You can also ask any questions you want. I highly suggest you use this opportunity rather than listening to random people on the internet about it (after all, it's effectively included in the price of your medication as part of the dispensing fee whether you use it or not, since it's why pharmacists make the big bucks).

Possibly drowsiness, or fatigue, diarrhea, diminished sex drive, loss of appetite among other things. These are things I experienced btw. It might be different for you.

Well, for me it made daily life easier. And also helped with my mood overall.

I will say that a big thing about psych meds is that the way they work on different people just plain varies in ways that other classes of medication don't, and they can also take weeks before you have a good indication of how it will feel in the long term. So it's important that you stay in contact with your psychiatrist as to how you're feeling so they can adjust it, and take the medication regularly as prescribed without missing doses. Sometimes a miracle drug for one person makes another feel worse, and sometimes a little dose change makes a world of difference.

how often were you getting diarrhea?

the reason i was prescribed it is my depression, but they also think that it can help my ibs

it's gonna fucking suck if i start getting diarrhea now too (especially considering that i just got a new job that doesn't really have breaks)

god damn, so after some googling, it seems like stomach/digestion issues and nausea, as well as general drowsiness and insomnia, are really common side effects

the thing, though, is that my doctor paradoxically prescribed this to me specifically for the alleviation of both my ibs symptoms and lethargy

wtf?

i really need this job that i just got and don't know if i really wanna go through some of these potential side effects right now and mess everything up

ugh
