I'm sure there are people that flat out deny it, which is just silly. The earth has undergone several dramatic changes in climate since its creation.

Climate change is a lie

this message is sponsored by the energy company I work for

Real talk though I don't actually think it's not happening, but I tell all kinds of idiots around here that it's not caused by fossil fuel use and I can spot some pretty good bullshit. Gotta shill for my job maybe.

I don't think many people flat out deny it, they just doubt the level of seriousness that scientists tend to give it. A lack of trust in how knowledgeable we are about the whole field.

I don't deny climate change. I do question and wonder why normal people paying taxes to governments when those top people can fly on huge jumbo jets and do whatever they want, would help change climate change.

I do wonder why Leo fights so hard for it but has huge yachts and flies his eyebrow person in on a private jet. That's weird. Seems conflicting.

I do question why how little of Al Gores documentary came true.

I do question why they try to limit dissenting opinions on climate change and why a lot of scientists are signing petitions regarding climate change hoax.

I do wonder why questioning if maybe humans don't cause as much as people think gets you demonized. That doesn't seem like a healthy practice for science when science has gotten so many things wrong before that they later corrected.

I do wonder since we didn't have the same technology?to measure temperature pre industrial age if these temperature readings are accurate or lack a comparison sample size.

I do wonder why so many corrupt people who support so many bad policies that hurt so many people and usually only look out for their own interests are vehemently behind this man made climate change thing.

So I don't deny it could be happening. I just have some questions as to why any questioning of it whatsoever is met with such irrational hate and venom.

Maybe humans have some effect. But I'd like to think if the sun moved to where Venus is that would affect climate more than an SUV. So many the sun has something to do. Maybe the planet goes through cycles. I'm just wondering if maybe we're perhaps jumping the gun a little bit because people have found a way to monetize this. We all know companies countries and corporations only care about money. Am I to believe they magically grew a heart?

All I do is question things that don't add up fully. I mean I used to be such a huge global warming guy. I used to make songs with my friends talking about the planet dying. Or polar ice caps. I'm sure I have Facebook statuses about it too.

But I watched and read dissenting views. And a lot of it made sense. I'm unsure on the issue because the people who usually back it are people who aren't very good people.

No, it's an appropriate term for people who deny science because it doesn't align with their politics.

i recognize it as a real problem but think our entire approach to fighting it is dead wrong

the 10 largest container ships in existence at present produce more CO2 than every car on the planet, and there are far more than 10 container ships out there.

we've banned their burning of bunker fuel in territorial waters, but we need to ban their burning of it *anywhere*. doesn't matter if it's in the middle of the pacific--CO2 release is going to impact the problem over time.

solar has never been a meaningful percentage of our energy grid. wind has, and is a good path, but we need to roll nuclear in too. our aversion to nuclear is wrong-headed; the problems with it would surface far later than the problems with coal/oil. natural gas is an acceptable stopgap in my mind but it shouldn't be treated as a superior option to nuclear.

Climate change denial is stupid. We know it's happening, that's not up for debate.

Arguing against man-made climate change is not stupid AND I'd even say it is a manifestation of having a healthy dose of skepticism, but it's largely uninformed.

Honestly, I think we give ourselves too much credit to think that our cattle, our deforestation, and our sports utility vehicles have set in motion drastic climate changes which will doom the Earth. It's not that fragile. And even if it was, the first thing to do to save the atmosphere would be to ban flights. Those pump way more fuel into the atmosphere than automobiles do. But they're also expedient and a source of a lot of money. Conveniently, even with the literal destruction of Earth, everything is the fault of the working class and not big business. The Earth is dying because I don't ride a bike to work, not because millions of gallons of jetliner fuel are pumped directly into our skies.

Is CO2 a green house gas? Yes.
Are humans responsible for the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere? Yes.

I genuinely don't see how anyone could deny it.
I get that they do, partisan cognitive dissonance, but holy fuck.

"but the climate is more complex than that!"

Yes, much so, and when you factor in everything else it becomes all the more evident.

It's like evolution at this point, there's so much data, knowledge, tests, if you deny it, you have to explain why it wouldn't be happening.

This.

Not this dramatic.

If you look at a graph that details the change in temperature over the Earth's history you'll see just how dramatic the current one is. It's both faster and higher than ever before by leaps and bounds. And coincidentally it occurs right around the exact pinprick in time that we became an industrialized species. Keep in mind we haven't been around very long in terms of Earth's history, so it's unfathomably coincidental for it to occur naturally right now. Again, this is only supplementary to the main point, which is just how ridiculously fast and high the numbers are.
