Is that actually realistic though? Then again we haven't had a recession in a while.

from what ive been reading, the consumers in america have slowed down their spending tremendously because their credit cards are maxed out. so eventually they cant pay the cards and then theyll default. this past week capital one and discover had huge write offs and people are scared now.

“We’re not losing any sleep that we can’t manage the credit situation we’re confronted with right now,” Mark Graf, chief financial officer at Discover, said on a conference call with analysts. “While charge-off rates have risen, they remain quite low by historical standards.”

I dunno. I think Trump would be able to successfully pin the blame on Obama for this since he is still in his first term.

No. Recessions always happen sooner or later. One is undoubtedly coming, its just a manner of when, and how bad?

Honestly? I think there's some merit to this, though I don't think it'll be quite as impacting as the last one. The biggest sign is the recent shuttering/decline of various retail stores. It's true that most retail workers aren't paid much above minimum wage, but collectively, they are responsible for a lot of employment, & a lot of them have been falling off in recent years, with HHGregg closing down being the most recent example. The retail stores that do remain open seem to have a common problem of the workers either being on one of two extremes where they get very few work hours or are blatantly overworked as companies try to cut costs.

Ultimately, this seems to be a result of the transitioning stage where consumers begin preferring online commerce such as Amazon, given that I'm also beginning to notice banks are starting to downsize to only drive-thru & ATM services, most likely in response to the popularity of online banking. Job markets are honestly probably going to be pretty messed up for the next few years, with the biggest issue being that few people will want to acknowledge the transition, with "retail" remaining an expected first job, even as retail markets begin to shrink. Also says nothing of the issue that some retail workers are probably still displaced from the last recession, with some having since given up to apply for disability & whatever other social benefits they can qualify for.

To put it simply, I'm predicting we're soon going to have a huge issue of unemployment, underemployment, & qualified individuals that have simply given up prospect of employment altogether.

And its been a decade since the last one. And the elites know that they can take advantage of a financial crisis to get wealthier.

Recessions don't happen every 30 years.
